Thought I'd post up my impressions of the Gilles Rearsets. Went with them because I've used them in the past and I've always been impressed their quality and thoughtful design...and the 1199 rearset does not disappoint! Also the main reason I chose them is they seemed to offer the most adjustability and allows for either standard or GP shift right out of the box.

I have them in black and the fit and finish is fantastic. Easy install and GP shift works flawlessly. If you haven't considered them yet you should. Order them from Shift-Tech and mention you're a forum member to Guido and he'll give you 10% off everything on their site. $520 after the discount which is the best bang for your buck of any rearset IMO and I prefer them over the DP rearset in every category.
Cheers

Very nice. Do you prefer them because you can go gp shift? I'm wondering if the stock is worth replacing, other than for bling factor...( which is a perfectly good reason btw!)
I have no clearance issues at full lean at the track with stock...

for me, most and foremost...the lack of grip;)

I personally think the stock is set a bit low for track use. I prefer them mainly for the adjustability, grip and the workmanship. I do think its a big plus that you can set up reverse shift without having to spend another $130 on the factory GP shift mechanism. If you like the placement and standard shifting then swapping out the pegs for LSL's or the Rizoma pegs will cost you much less and give you much better grip than the ridiculously slippery stock pegs. I should have a set of LSL's and Rizoma Pro pegs and adapters if anyone is interested; bought them while I was waiting for the Gilles.

+1 and like most race rearsets, they're much stronger than stock and pegs can be replaced cheaply in the event of a get off.

I believe BMW is using Gilles for their rearsets on the HP4 as well.

I have not had any clearance issues at the track. But I was not racing just having fun.

I have put on some LSL racing version pegs before that day and the difference in grip was chalk and cheese.

The LSL racing version is about 10mm shorter than stock. A cheap alternative if you are looking for extra grip.

I love the look of the Gilles sets though. I have used gilles before and they are very well made products.

when you set up the Gilles for GP shift, do you still have to buy the reverse shift link in order for the QS to function?

No you do not.

With the Gilles Rearsets you can set them up as GP shift with the OEM quickshifter as you have it, nothing get's changed on the quickshifter at all.

The OEM quickshifter stays as it is, the change is done on the rearsets. You can use them in standard or GP Shift configuration.
