Good question...but I doubt it when us suckers keep paying top dollar for these beautiful machines.
No but as the Euro$ trades below 100 it will become more economically feasible to travel to the Factory and buy a new bike, ride it and ship it back used to the US for less than buying the bike new in the US.
Since last summer the Euro$ has dropped 35%, in Italy a 1299S costing 20,000 euros would have cost $28,000 US. As we go through parity in the Euro$ and below probably somewhere below 80 in the next year or two, the 1299S will be $16K in US$, if you buy it in Europe.
So if you have the time, you can have a free vacation going to the Ducati factory for the same price as buying a Ducati in the U.S.
I feel for you . You guys in the US got it tough .
That sarcasm if you didn't pick up in it .
Your welcome to Australian prices if you like ....... more sarcasm
My sales person said he thought the Rs would also hit US dealers in mid April and he would know more in two weeks.Has the U.S. price been released as of yet on the new R model? Are they also coming in approx. mid-April?

I hate taking about the price of premium products.
Can always buy a Honda.
Interesting statement...
In reality, the price of Ducati's in the USA will not come down because of the weaker Euro$. But the more significant change will be in overall performance in the motorcycle industry. For the first time in a long time the Japanese manufacturers have begun to invest in R&D with a weaker Yen.
In the past 3 years, the US$ has strengthen against the Yen by more than 50%. Even though, we have not seen prices go down for Japanese bikes but what we are beginning to see is far more performance being delivered. This bump in performance is not only to compete with the Euro bikes but more it is a result of recent R&D. No one can deny, the R1M is not one heck of a bike and though I am sure if I would ever want to ride a motorcycle with a super charger, Kawasaki is doing some R&D on boosting performance.
Net, net the stronger US$ might not save us any money but at least in the superbike category the stronger US$ will fund some much needed R&D giving us superbike choices we never thought we would have.
However, I still like the idea of going to the Ducati factory to pick up the latest and greatest and bring it home with me. When I was child, my Dad in the sixties went to the Ferrari factory to pick up a custom built 1967 GTB4 painted in green and bring it home him. I am so glad he did, because at 12, I learned how to drive stick in the back roads of Southampton!!!
