Just out of curiosity who has a gopro camera and where and what do you use to mount it. My wife just got me one and I was thinking of using the suction cup on the tank. Just wanted to get some other ideas see what you guys have been doing.

Side fairing it work, tank is too curved to suction it. The way I like to use it is a mount on the side of my helmet, mount the camera upside down so it gets a lower angle, then flip picture. I think that's how some of the guys who do moto vlogs do it. But it gets a perfect capture of the road ahead, your hands, speedometer, and when you look, they see what you see. Gives them a more interesting video and first person perspective. The other spot I thought of trying was on the tail facing forward but your leg might get in the way. Or you could do something more interesting (I'll have to try it this year) and face it backward, so everyone can see how nice the japanese bikes look from behind :D

Try a search for Drift HD camera, there's a thread that talks about how people are mounting their cameras. I got a gopro as a gift too, but haven't decided how I'm going to mount it since I have the dark smoke windscreen. I might use one of the adhesive mounts on the fairing if i feel lucky, not so sure how secure it is. Forum member Trauma uses a 6" extension for the Ram suction cup mount, so I'm looking onto that.

if any of you guys know of the best place to get the gopro3 black, please post. thanks.

Here is my solution.

That's pretty nice and would work well for my iPhone GPS. Do you have a picture of it mounted?

+1 looks like a nice design.

My brother used the adhesive mounts on the front and rear and the seemed to work ok but I'm not thrilled about sticking anything to the paint on my baby.

I'm gonna go with something like this that mounts to the steering stem hole.

As stated earlier, I posted the DriftHD mounting in the Gear section. Here is some pics of the iPhone that I use the same Ram Mount as I use for my camera.

Just behind the fuel cap, the suction cup fits perfectly. Not ideal especially if you are one to lean right over the tank everytime you ride. However gives a great view of the dash, handlebars, hand control and of course the road.

Gotta say I'm pretty disappointed with the battery life of the hero3 blk. I'm doing the BMW M school and used the ram suction cup mount on the window, wifi off and was only able to record about 45 minutes. Don't know exactly yet, but I'm being generous. I have LCD back screen and that likely contributed, but pretty awful. I guess I'll try the battery pack.

Lemme know how that goes - I am thinking use the iPhone or the actual remote instead of the LCD back to extend life. Worse case use the extended battery.

Will do, I'm going to try it out tomorrow. It was 30 min 48 sec worth of video on a full charge.

Did you ever get to try that 6" ram extension?

There is a firmware update for the Hero 3 as well. Not sure if it fixes the charging issue but it would be something to look into. My Hero 2 can record for hours while using the LCD backpack. I've been holding off on the Hero 3 til they fix the issue. But if you do that firmware update and it works let me know.

I have the update, you had to get it to interface the 3 with the iPhone/iPad app. I haven't timed the battery, but I will.

One thing I have noticed with mounting is that the adhesive mounts seemed to cause a lot more picture vibration than using the suction cup, not sure exactly why, maybe the suction cup absorbs some of the vibration. But very noticeable difference when I have tested them. I've even tried them on different bikes.

I did the update when I first got it. It allows you to use the go pro app, but don't think it addressed any battery issues.

So, second day out without the LCD screen I got about 10 minutes more battery life, total of about 40 minutes with wifi off and stopping recording after each 1-2 min session. I ordered the battery pack and will see how that goes.

best camera ever have
