Ok, I see a lot of talk about the GoPro but i also here that their battery life on the new wifi is horse ..... So are any of you using or have you had a chance to test the Contour+2? Pros Cons of both please and opinions? Looks like the contour is a little more designed for motorcycling, but i haven't gotten an opportunity to try either one so I'm looking forward to yall's experience with both.

Personally I use the contour. Have used the go pro in the past and always hated the wavey video due to vibration. Contour does it as well, just no where near as bad.

Contour you have to set it up with the software, which has its pros and cons, but more or less set it and forget it. Go pro on the other hand you can make changes from the camera itself, again pros and cons.

You can get into color reproduction and a lot more technical stuff, and IMHO the contour does a better job, but I'm by no means a professional lol.

Here is a shot on my Panigale vs a 2008 ZX-10R (didn't stand a chance). This is the GoPro HD Hero2. Used suction cup mount on left side fairing. Forgot to tighten the main housing screw so hence why it drifts upward. At 6:05 you can see him on my right, then we take off at around 6:45 as you see my front wheel come up. Just a short run. Watch in HD.

What I can tell you is that I have owned the Hero 1 and Hero 2, the camera's have a very noticeable difference in high def quality. The Hero 2 I use is close in quality with the Hero 3. I run an LCD backpack ($80) and the camera is ($200) on amazon. I am holding off buying the Hero 3 because I have heard the battery life is short, and it has glitches (I think they have been fixed by a firmware update but not sure). GoPro is really easy to use. Anyways, hope this helps. Enjoy!

Went with the HD Drift Ghost because of the battery. It uses a 1700 mah battery that last several hours. It is alittle larger than GoPro Hero 3 but is smaller than countour. I also has it oun video screen which is extra with Hero 3.

Will you PM me? I actually have some questions on the Drift HD Programs.

I went with the Hero 3 because of the resolution options. It matches my Nikon D800's resoultions, most particularly 1080p 24 for cinema. It has a battery option, and comes with the deep water case, so a wash $ wise with the Drift - But I definitely like the Drift appearance much better.

Yeah, 2nd gear and it was a 60 mph roll on. So I think its just above the max torque curve around 8,000-8,500 rpm. I raced a 200 rwhp Hayabusa (only one to beat the Panigale this year) and it was a night and day difference leaving from 2nd than in 3rd. Even at the same rpm.

That looks so cool! nose seems to power up so smooth. It looks like your doin 30

I went with DriftHD as well. I did for the viewing screen so I can see what I am filming before I start filming. Plus I like the slimmer design for aerodynamics if I mount it low on the front wheel or on my helmet. So far I've only mounted it on the steering stem.

I learned later that the newest GoPro and DriftHD Ghost can be previewed with an iPhone app before starting filming. Very nice features.

+1 for the DriftHD -

Same reasons as mentioned plus I like the rotatable lens to level the shot, allowing for more mounting options.

I haven't had anyone stupid enough to try, but I would have a hard time keeping the nose down off the line!

I do drag track racing as well, its fun but it teaches you throttle control to get the best acceleration. I had to give it half throttle leaving from a dead stop, wheel comes up a little, then shift and give it full throttle going into second. Traction control off as well.

If you take off on the street your wheel won't come up high if you hit the throttle above the max torque curve at 8,000 rpm. If you start below that, you could be doing a 90 mph stand up wheelie, which isn't good if you are in a race of course.

We raced a second time as well at 7:45, same thing, second gear at 60 mph. As you can see the wheel didn't come up at all. Key point to that I forgot to mention: Get all your weight as far forward as you can. I am light so if the wheel stays down for me, it will be even easier for you.

I have a contourHD, gopro 2, gopro 3 black and Drift HD170.

The drift is ok video but turns off randomly because of vibration and heat. Battery life is good with the larger battery pack. sound is absolute crap at anything faster than 60mph. the rotating lens is the best feature on this camera.

The contourHD started locking up on me and would not turn off and ruined the video whenever it happened. The top switch has worn out twice and the back has fallen off twice. The battery life is ok but shorter than the drift. The picture is better than the drift. The sound is crappy, totally crappy.

The gopro 2 battery life is good and the picture is better than the drift or contour. sound quality is better than the drift or countour.

The gopro 3 has the best picture quality and same sound as the gopro 2. The picture is much brighter and sharper than the gopro 2.

They fixed the microphone on the Drift Ghost and it is real good with no wind noise at all at 90 mph. Have not had any problem with vibration turning it off.

hows the video quality? I know the new gopro's are pretty intense HD.

Later additions of the HD quality is on par with the Hero2. Drift also replaced my early HD with a new one as I too had issues with it turning off. Hero3 is currently the leader for 1080HD quality. I run my Drift in 780/60fps for best quality and allowing for some 1/2 rate slow mo playbacks.
