Got the HIGH Temperature warning on dash tonight

The previous owner was super up front about everything and answered every single quirky question I could come up with and even talked to me on the phone trying to help figure out what was wrong even when he had no obligation to. Hes definitely a stand up guy and I trust everything hes told me. He has also owned multiple bikes in the past and he was telling me his temps never got over 190-200 regularly so I definitely think there was coolant in it when he was riding.

He initially thought it had 100% water in it and when he was draining it to add some 100% antifreeze he saw it come out blue and thought it was engine ice so he just buttoned everything back up without burping the system so we thought it was just an air bubble. Didnt think it would end up 2 liters low. Honestly no clue what else could have happened during transport. I think it would be messed up for the shipping company to drain the fluids without telling me and letting me ride away like that.

That most likely explains the missing coolant:eek:

So the previous owner didn't ensure that it was full of coolant before he finished playing with it.
I hate it when people don't know what they're doing.

The dealer seems to be pretty much across it with his prognosis.

LOL THANK FOR THAT!!

The amount of coolant that came out of the bike was less than half a cup. The reserve should have easily covered that amount. Once I noticed it was not water in the bike I did not want to mix coolants. The only plausible explanation is that the bike was right on the edge of being low in the first place and the little that I lost mush have done it. I even took a photo of the coolant that pored out.
The guy that did know what he was doing also walked him through the fix ;).
