I concur with the people posting about Melillimoto Ducati in Ocala. By far best dealer IMO in The area. I live in south Tampa and still would only buy from there. About 45 minutes closer living in Safety Harbor for yourself

So many Sebastian customers here! Count me in. I bought from him even though it was further than Magic City in Orlando or Daytona Ducati, because of his reputation. Glad I did.

JeffD, Monster 1200S or Dragster? Both are hot. I hope Seb gets a demo of each soon.

That's a $2,200 question, Leon. As in the price difference between the two bikes. If I got the Dragster the $2,200 price difference would pay for the Quat D exhaust that I would have to have.

But after test riding Ducati demo bikes all Bike Week, I'm torn.

The best Ducati streetbike, for my purposes - which means a comfortable bike that I can still drag knee in the twisties with - that I rode all week was the 848 Streetfighter, which was very light steering and had a decent amount of power. But I feel that if I owned it, rather than riding it on a 25-mile demo ride, it would be just short of enough power to be satisfying after hooning the 1199 around for the last year. That means the 1200S monster with its big twin and 145 hp (13 claimed more hp than the 848 SF) would probably be just right. I also rode the Hypermotard and even in Sport mode its motor just felt flat.

What I don't get, is that the Monster 1200S has the same motor as the Diavel, but puts out 17 less claimed hp. I've ridden Diavels as well and the power is awesome. So why not have the same tune in the Monster 1200S?

So, being disappointed with Ducati's "platform-engineering" and de-tuning the Diavel motor for the Monster 1200S, I'm heavily leaning towards the MV Agusta Dragster 800. With a pipe and a more exciting power curve, I'm betting it will be more fun to ride. After seeing both the Dragster and Monster 1200 in person, the Dragster is more striking a design to me.

What's your opinion?

The Dragster is definitely a more eye catching design. I wonder what the difference in engine output would feel like between the two? Would I miss the power? Not sure, but the Dragster looks. sounds and from the video I have watched, looks like pure fun ALL the time. I'm going to pick up my bike on Saturday from Melillimoto and I'll get a close up then. Track day at Jennings on Sunday.

I'd rather check out the bikes instead of those 3 blonde stick figures. They look like they've missed a meal.......or 100. Definitely not attractive.

Trust me, they were hot in person. I wouldn't say no!

I think the power curve of the MV triple is going to be more exciting with a top end rush and scream. Plus, the Dragster weighs about 30 pounds less than the Monster and has more aggressive geometry, so I'm betting it will feel sharper. I think the outright pull of the 1200S will feel better, but for turning and overall handling, I bet the MV takes it. I'm most interested in how the bike handles in the mountains, which is where I would be taking it a lot.

Have fun on Sunday, wish I was going. We need to do Roebling together and also take a mountain trip this summer.

Beverly Hills Ducati did that to me. I had my deposit and reserved at ProItalia, but the bike wouldn't be there for another 2 weeks. Beverly Hills had the tri and thought I would get it ahead of time. He told me MSRP, then when I came in to sign the papers made up some BS his manager wanted to mark it up. I was like BYE! they tried calling me, I just ignored them.
