Yeah, the Taconic really is my favorite road. Only problem is that I've had my fair share of outruns on that road...

Ugh... was on the Taconic this past weekend and it is a MESS... Various road seams/bumps of various sizes, big gaps of chunked out pavement between the lanes, and worst of all... that crap tar crack filler is ALL over the lanes and slippery as hell. I couldn't even find a safe line within a lane and as a result barely got the bike over through the sweepers. I sometimes can't believe they are still using that crap.

Anyway, the Taconic is effectively ruined through Putnam/Dutchess counties for the foreseeable future. Ugh.

sux....gonna hit bear mt Wed, weather permitting...

You guys should make the trek up to and around Woodstock NY. Well worth it. All farm roads, you can see 3-4 turns ahead. Worst thing you're gonna hit is some cow .... in the road.....

If ya phuck up all ya wind up doing is killing a few rows of corn stalks....

any specific road suggestions would be appreciated...

Once your up in the Woodstock, Kingston NY area your in for a treat if your ride Rt 213 North to the Ashokan Reservoir. (BTW this where your NYC drinking water comes from) Once at the reservoir take 28A East along the reservoir to 28 and then turn right on Hurley Mountain Rd and be sure to wave hello as you go by. Ride back to 213 via Tongore Rd and go south to highfalls and take the Mohonk Rd to New Paltz. The Mohonk road is where we separate the posers from the true superbike riders.

If you are serious advanced rider contact me and lets ride!

ok so this sunday we road up 287 past sparta nj into port jervis ny. past skyland park and made a right at chatterbox. i guess this is a known road. 100s of bikers. many chicanes with cut outs to park going up and down the mountain. see pictures.

rode Mohonk Rd 5x today LOL -- not too shabby save for some spotty traffic.

i believe i may have seen your 1098r parked on that collegiate town-like strip today (off interstate)....i actually went to the organic health food store on way back (they have home brewed kombucha on tap [i dont mess with that but inarestin]).....

anyhow thx for the good recommendations.

If you are ever back in the area, please feel free to contact me there are some great roads in the area.

Nice! I was there a few weekends ago, going the other way. Two basketball sized patches of dropped gravel from roadwork trucks almost took me out.
