Grips, has anyone changed theirs…

Evening all, going to be adding some bar end mirrors so while faffing around I was thinking I could change the grips. Anyone change theirs? Can you let me know if it was worth it please. Looked at Domino A250 but that seems the most chosen brand.

I run the Domino A350's and change them out monthly

Run Progrip 717. Remove/install isn’t as bad if you have a compressor

Run the 717 too. Took them off with box cutter. Took literally a minute to slice them carefully and pull off. Ran a little WD-40 on and installed new grips. No issues!

717s all the way! Super easy to remove stock ones, and install the new. I used hairspray to get the new ones on (thanks to YouTube)

I just changed mine. I don’t have compressed air but the install is very easy even without it. At first, I tried using grip glue. It didn’t work well for me at all. I then tried the install with rubbing alcohol and the grips went right on. My pro tip is to use rubbing alcohol liberally and then let your bike sit overnight so that it all drys up. I also used safety wire to keep the grips nice and tight.

I put on the ProGrip 717s (on my Streetfighter V4S). A few things I noticed:
- They are shorter than the original grips. Probably not an issue for most hands. I wear an XXL glove and they are just about OK but could be a tad longer.
- They are very slightly thicker than the original grips which is the main reason I put them on. Makes it easier to grip lightly.
- Obviously stickier but wear down much, much faster
- Feels like the throttle turns much easier. To the point of it being too light. I suspect that the original grips which fit over the flanges on the end of the throttle tube, made very light contact with the throttle housing, thereby. creating a minute amount of friction. Running throttle spacers, I much preferred the feel of the original grips on the throttle side. To the point I am considering changing back. Then again, it may just be that the original grips are heavier.

Are the 717s what come on the V4S? Or is it just the Panigle V4S?

The 717s are a Ducati accessory on both the Panigale and Streetfighter. Ducati grips come as standard on both.

The 717 pro grips feel great but as @SodaO said, they are shorter than the stock grips. They don't fit the throttle side well and leave part exposed. When mine wear out, I'll put the stock ones back on

Gents, I’m feeling less manly after reading the comments… the 717 I bought fit perfectly on my bars… are mine smaller ;-)

I have domino xm2 installed

There’s a little gap on my 717s, possibly 1-2mm max. I can’t tell if it’s any more than stock as I had them dealer installed when I picked up the bike.

I think they feel great… more grip than stock and a little bit softer. My only gripe with them is that they tend to gather dust far easier and won’t return to they’re when new dark grey color with a simple wash.

Little update on the 717, after 4K miles they are ripped to shreds…. Now I won’t say it’s the grips fault as my Dainese gloves are pretty grips on the underside…. But it’s definitely something I will be needing to replace post summer.
