It never ceases to amaze me how many other bikers want to tell you that what your are doing or want to do with your bike is wrong and that you should have gotten a different bike...

It has long been my experience that people (for the most part, but definitely not ALL people) purchase the cage (car or truck) that they NEED... But when it comes to a motorcycle purchase, you purchase what you want or desire.

There is far more passion and desire that goes into a motorcycle purchase than a car or truck purchase.

Lets face it. Nobody NEEDS a motorcycle, we want or desire one. You can buy a cheep old Honda Accord to get you to and from places for under $1500 easily.

You can also buy a cheap old motorcycle for under a grand that will get you where you want to go.

A Ducati purchase is a purchase of passion and desire.

So I always wonder why some people feel it necessary to tell others that some mod or change that they want to do is "wrong" or "ugly" or even "stupid"....

When I post a question on a technical forum, I am usually NOT looking for someone to tell me if it is right or wrong, I am usually looking to see if someone else has done it and what the results were. Since my new 14 is the 3rd year of the Pani, I am pretty sure that there is someone else out there who has tried what I am considering.

That is the point of the technical section of forums. To share technical information. Not someone saying that they all do this or that and that cannot happen.

These are not robot built, mass produced Japanese machines. These are hand-built Italian works of art. A human being did most of the work to assemble your bike and mine. People don't always to things the same way, so there will be slight variations from bike to bike.

Look back at some of the older posts from 2012 and 2013 at all of the horrendous problems some people had with their Pani's. All of the display issues, melted fairings, fork seal failures, oil leaks, etc...

My 14 has had NONE of the above problems.

What is my point? When someone asks a technical question, answer the question. If you have not tried or done what the poster is asking about, then don't answer. If you have, your opinion is welcome. If not, and you are about to tell the poster he/she got the wrong bike or that is stupid or you need to learn to ride your bike... GFY Your opinion is neither wanted nor needed....

Ok, rant over.

This is a public forum. Anyone can post whatever they want. YOU have the option to either ignore their post or ignore them completely as a member from seeing any of their posts. You go and create a thread like this to make other members aware of a problem that is old as the very first forums on the interwebs. You take it a step further and disrespect a member or members with an ....... followed by a STFU. Angry much? I have a sarcastic approach at times and some of my posts are pointless but like every other member on here, I have an opinion. I choose whether or not I post about it. I also choose whether or not I ignore any posts on any thread on any forum I am a member of.

Instead of creating a thread that's not going to solve anything, how about you change your approach on how you deal with cyber frustration and keep the insults to yourself?

2 things on this..

1. when you post it publicly it makes no difference whether the opinion is wanted or needed or not. You will get all of them. You are bringing your question/issue/problem or advise seeking into the public. Edited 2nd

2. Answer this. Stand on the side of the road with the exact question posted on a big board and see if you get the opinions of those that have done it or everyone's opinion?

People seem to forget that just because you and the other people are not next to each other or face to face that its private or not public. It is public, hell type in "1199 haters hate" into google and watch your topic here be the first in the public search result.

Edit 2nd in the public search results..

Generally speaking,

Men say all kinds of nasty things to me when their girlfriend is hopping onto the back of my bike. Jealousy?

Many people cannot stand the truth, no one wants to know their mistakes.

But what if we see a typical complaint over decades by people new to Ducati's?

2012 and 2013 at all of the horrendous problems

BS All bikes have problems and none of these were horrendous.

My 13S has been flawless and is 99.999% exactly like your bike in build.

14's have not been out long enough for complaints to pop up as much as older higher mileage bikes.

YOUR bike has all the potential to see these complaints as a 12 or 13.

or even "stupid"....

Because despite our different opinions your still a brother, and knowing people die from stupidity, we tend to jump all over it.

Your not doing anything dangerous as far as I can tell.

But when you say my twin sucks at 4k in second gear, you asked for it. And the thing is we have a decade of this same complaint by people new to twins coming to the bike from a 4cyl.
