I was riding on OEM pipes on 80 degree weather in Los angeles a couple of weeks ago and almost had 2nd degree burn on my right inner lower leg from the heat coming from the pipes and header. Heat is unbearable. Called up the dealership and suggested an upgrade that will cover the header and pipes which is covered by the warranty. But i decided to change to full termi exhaust. See how it goes this summer in LA.

Keyword is Almost!

Now get back up on yo steed! Put on some more miles and you may almost grow some chest hair as well!

Bought it in May - St Louis is infamous for hot/humid weather (3 major rivers meet here), and all I can say, is "what heat?". Again, it's a gas combustion engine, it generates heat. Just not enough to distract my senses from all the other attributes. I have an old Land Rover that leaks fluids in places (lotta places) - that's part of the experience. I'm not ranting all over the internet about it :D

He only kidding :D

But seriously make sure you get the Termi's ceramic coated before install!

it's because you bought a red one. they issued a white one to help. the white one has zero heat issues and runs much cooler to match its tone.

you can also pour gas into your throttle bodies (by a hole in the underside of your tank). this enriches the air/fuel ration and leads to a cooler combustion. or none. and then we have to start another hard starting thread.

if the heat is an issue you really might want to consider the mod that ducati is going to do at owner's request, part of the mod entails a cover plate which goes on the vertical cylinder, it's not the most attractive thing but consider it. Pics in one of the multitude of threads on this subject on this forum.

Ignore the responses...no one forced them to click on your thread:)

I did have 2nd degree blistering burns, R poster-medial thigh, riding in Oregon. Ceramic coating made a huge difference!

...or the Ducati mod....

Here's the thread on the mods for heat. It consists of a larger shroud covering the underseat pipes and a plastic guard on the vertical cylinder

one or both might be a solution.

I played with one in person last week (not installed, still in the box from Ducati). It's a big aluminum shroud (unpainted, bare AL color) that goes on first and then a dual layered black piece that goes over the top. It's pretty big and burly. The covers for the head appeared to be just thick plastic. I'm going to wait and see one installed on a bike in person before I decide if I want one on my bike or not.

yep it's not an option I'm going to consider at all.

Not doin' it - kinda like a flat-chested woman wearing a bra - whats the point?
