Heat not Tolerable on hot weather

I am still fence sitting on it for 2 reasons. 1) I haven't seen it on a bike in person and 2) (most importantly) I took delivery in December. I haven't ridden the bike in ambient temps over 60 F yet so I can't say what it feels like in summer heat. I have done up to 2 hour rides in regular jeans and it was definitely hot - made the SF look like it wasn't even running by comparison. That being said, it wasn't "OMG get me off the bike, ice my legs and rush me to the burn unit" hot so I am skeptical about it at this point. We'll see once I get in some July and August riding.

Yeah, we have until the end of the year for it to be free. Either way I'll pick up the parts and save with the rest of my OEM stuff.

will we have the option of just getting the parts?

Probably have to pay for them after that. I mean, they had to put some kind of limit on it, so you don't get really old, and start feeling the heat like all the other old foggies.

Man...all this talk about heat! Heaven forbid we put some heat shields on to take care of the problem!

Reminds me a famous Missourian once said: "Everybody Talks About the Weather, But Nobody Does Anything About It."

Only real heat I've noticed was when I had the stock seat on (definite hot seat). When I switched to the DP comfort seat that issue went away. I'm guessing the thicker/taller seat mitigated that hot spot.

As for any thing else, I haven't really been bothered. Yeah, it's warm. But no warmer than what my 748 was as far as general heat coming off the engine/exhaust. And no issues with specific hot spots that would cause burns like some others have been reporting.

At this point I don't anticipate installing the additional/alternate heat shielding that Ducati offers.

After I put on the DP Race Seat I forgot all about the heat issue. The stock seat has your knees gripping the bike where the rear sub-frame attaches to the rear cylinder head and they get very hot. The taller seat allows you to grip the tank and stay farther back on the bike and not slide forward, thus reducing the heat effect.

exactly. the rear cylinder is mostly to blame... I can't believe i commented on the heat again... I'm just as much to blame i guess...

Where are the mods? Pee should be banned talking about the heat!

yeah i pickup my bike this Saturday it came with the new heat shields. its doesn't look so bad to me but since i didnt own it with out it kinda helps cant say if i had old one i would switch.

This is the new heatshield on my R. And yes I have the raceseat and yes I wear leathers. On my 2012 S same thing. If you drive in jeans or shorts it's a no go. And I took off those ugly cylinder covers.

It's more about the material than the color. Make sure to be aware of the quality they'll use.
