Hello guys,
I wanna use the winter time to make some visual changes at my V4S. Among other things, I want to replace the original heat shield with a carbon heat shield:

https://www.ilmberger-carbon.de/Car...spuffhitzeschutz_Schalldaempfer_Set_matt.aspx

Cause there are still 4 weeks delivery time, I wanted to prepare and ask if you have experience with the dismantling of the heat shield of the V4S. I did not find anything on YouTube. For the older models you have to put the back part higher. Is that the case with the V4?

Thank you for any hints !

Regards
Ansgar

I have the ilmberger on my bike and it is one of the easiest carbon additions to install. You should not have any issues with it. Simply unbolt the oem plastic one and bolt the new carbon one on with supplied hardware.

Oh perfect. Thank you. Now I’m able to sleep
Are you using a full carbon back frame ?? Looks awesome !

Hey there Tricky1, I am waiting for the V4 streetfighter and it looks like the OEM plastic exhaust shield is identical to the Panigale, I have noticed on the Panigale that the shield bolts together as 2 halves at the back but the ilmberger shield that you have installed seems to be 1 piece, is this correct and if so did it hinder the replacement at all? Is it possible for you to post a couple of more pictures for me particularly from the rear L/H side, cheers

Did you have to remove the tank or subframe to get the plastic shield off or fit the cabon ilmberger shield?

Cheers, thanks, it would be great to see the installation from different angles and great to know I won't need to lift the tank or subframe

I installed it myself. The job took about an hour. You have to partially remove the right rearset and get the brake out of the way.

Megatron, did that carbon heat shield replace the front and back plastic pieces or just the front?

I took a look at the link for carbon heat shield. At least from the website, it only replaces the front part of the shield, not the back part of the shield (except for the little cover for the wiring on the back part of the shield). This is why you did not have to remove the subframe. You don't have to remove the subframe to remove the front shield. It was the rear shield removal that required the subframe removal.

Ah this makes sense now with the conflicting info of tank/sub frame off/on, See everyone's input helps, thanks to all you guys out there I know if I install the Ilmberger shield then I don't have to lift the tank or frame.

Hi,

did you manage to get heat shield installed on the V4?

I was planning to do the same but I ma not sure how easy/difficult would be - I don’t want to remove tank/fairings myself.

thanks

Morning gents,

I just got today my carbon shield from Illmberger - however I am not clear how it can be mounted since the OEM shield is two pieces (halves) and the carbon one is just one piece.

My question is, in order to fit the carbon shield, should I also removed the 4 screws circled in the pictures on both side?

I believe the big silver metal part covering the exhaust should be left in place?

Also I have received 4 screws with different length, should I not use the OEM ones?

I would appreciate your directions.

thanks a mill
Marco

Do you have a chance to take some heat measurements before and after the carbon piece install? Mostly, to see how effective the heat deception is. If at all...

No, I haven’t taken any measurements as I just received the part yesterday. Just to let you know the carbon part is already shielded internally (you won’t see from the pictures I posted) so ten “hollow” internal side is shielded, pretti much as the OEM part which is plastic...

I need to know how to mount it

thanks

Hi Marcomacity. I installed the exact same part from Illmberger to my V4S a couple of weeks ago. You don't need to remove those 4 screws in your pictures. The carbon part fits over the top of the existing panel.

Hope that helps.
