Hey Grill72, so you removed the R/H plastic shield , fit the carbon shield in place of the plastic one and over the top of the R/H which stays in place?

Hi Marcomacity. I installed the exact same part from Illmberger to my V4S a couple of weeks ago. You don't need to remove those 4 screws in your pictures. The carbon part fits over the top of the existing panel.

Hope that helps.

Hi,

ok, so I have been confirmed that the rear left side of the carbon will be sitting on top of the plastic OEM one (I mean the side where the cable holder is located).

However, I find it very very difficult to snap the carbon shield in as the brake set is on the way and blocking its way to the pin (red circled in the pic)

so question is: should I remove the whole brake set to fit the shield ??

thanks

I didn't remove the whole rear brake rear set but if you did it would make life a little easier for yourself. It was a little fiddly to get it seated correctly.

Ok, I find it very awkward to say the least... and to put that in, you started from the PIN (small black) on the bottom adn you then aligned the upper part of the shield?

I installed it myself. The job took about an hour. You have to partially remove the right rearset and get the brake out of the way.

Hi Megatron,

did you have to remove the whole rear brake set to fit the carbon shield? as i can see from the picture your low fairing is still in place and the rear foot peg moved aside but all the set is in its position.

Could you please advise?

thanks!

I have just sorted - a real pain in the a**e ....

I have the ilmberger on my bike and it is one of the easiest carbon additions to install. You should not have any issues with it. Simply unbolt the oem plastic one and bolt the new carbon one on with supplied hardware.

Looks amazing! I just recently purchased the same heat shield. Was a huge pain since I did not remove the rear sets but seem to have ran into an issue and cannot find any info nor any videos on the correct way to install. The metal posts coming off of the metal right under the actual carbon fiber heat shield seem to push through the holes too far. This is making it to where once the screws are put on them, it does not pull the metal heat shield and carbon fiber close enough together causing it to wobble. Im not sure if I described this correctly but do you or anyone know why this is occurring? As of now, it seems like I have to buy multiple washers to prevent it from wobbling. Thanks for any info!
