Hi guys!
I'm Pierre from Lyon, France, 54, biker for 40 years soon
I'm riding Ducati for more than 20 years now, since I bought a 916 in 1997. Il also had later a 998S and a Desmosedici RR, but in June 2011 those 2 wonderful bikes were simultaneously stolen from my garage :-(
That sad event paused my Ducati Superbike passion for a while, but I'm back: I ordered a Panigale 1299 R Final Edition that I expect to receive by the end of this year.
10 years ago I had the strange idea of riding my Desmosedici RR a lot, with more than 23,000 km in 3 years, including a 5,000 km "TouRR de France" in 2 weeks in Autumn 2008, to let about 50 of my Ducati mates test that beast on the road.
I experienced some problems with my Desmosedici RR: this bike was really wonderful, both engine and chassis, but not reliable enough and the lack of spare parts from the factory was really painful for me as for other Desmosedici RR owners... I had to wait 7 month for the 20.000 km service because the factory had no crankshaft for my bike: it had to be produced on-demand, immediately after the factory Desmosedici GP11 crankshafts expected by casey Stoner and Nicky Hayden for their MotoGP bikes...
I expect a better experience with my Panigale Final Edition, and I'm interested in any information about 1299 R (lack of) reliability and (minor or major) issues or failures...
Thanks.
