So I was tightening my subframe bolts down after some maintenance and as I tightened the front bolts that attach the subframe to the frame the right side bolt snapped inside the frame. I did NOT torque these down very hard at all and am at a loss on how it broke this easily and how to get this thing out. Its killing me right now. I have tried the EZ out bit with a drill and no luck. Any help is appreciated

What torque were you tightening it to ?

I suggest drilling it out very slowly with plenty of lubricant. Drill smaller than the bolt so as not to destroy the thread. If you get all the way thru then the last bit of the bolt should turn back out.

It will be a slow tedious job though. Be patient otherwise you will make it worse.

Know what torque and using a torque wrench is the way to stop this from happening.

Good luck with it.

Here you go, brother.

Good luck!

I think I might pull mine out and replace them with some stainless or grade 8 bolts.

If you remove the frame is the broken part all in the engine or does any of it protrude?

If the answer is no, I'd take it to a shop.

EDIT: I just saw that it was the front. I doubt you'd be able to remove the frame with it partially sticking out.

Get some experienced hands to help you, even if it means to throw some money at it. This is not hard to do if you know how but very easy to make a big mess of if you don't.

Got it out! Had a small Heart attack there. Thanks for all the help guys. Used a drill bit then an EZ out and she came out after a lot more drilling then I felt comfortable with on a 20k bike. Now just waiting on the $16 replacement

Were you using a torque wrench ? And if so what is the torque for that bolt supposed to be ?

Didn't have the toque wrench out yet. Was just getting it snug. I will be more cautious next time
