Here comes the reality of success

Gigi said they had been running 22 liters in anticipation of this anyway.

+1

i bet that the bike has been completely developed towards factory settings, since they were confident to lose open advantages quickly :D

Did they take fuel away from Rossi and Jlo or the Factory Hondas since they have podiumed 3 times in dry conditions since 2014?? Or taken anything away from them?

Hmm. Jealous

no, they always ran factory class, not open... nothing to be taken away.

I guess I need to read up on the differences. I thought the only differences were Factory, Factory Support and Satellite teams. Off to read some. Still not cool.

it was decided last year, affecting software, tires, engine and fuel...

i wouldn't say it's not cool as the loss of advantages is clearly predictable and for sure, has been calculated in. and if losing advantages because of not losing races occurs, hey, what else do you want? :D

Between reading this and what the MotoGP site says is Factory vs Open Class the Open Class bikes are at a disadvantage already not being a Factory Team and have more rules it appeared unless I read it wrong. With Ducati only running with 22 litres anyways and running Medium Tires it wont affect it anyways as your post showed, but will Dorna keep taking more if Ducati has more podiums?

Next step is they lose the soft tire. What happens after that is up to how much Honda throws a shitfit and asks for the rules to be re-written.

Given that everyone gets a blank slate next year, and we haven't really seen what Marquez will do on the factory Honda, I suspect they will ..... a lot but ultimately follow the guidelines as they are structured.

A bit poor really, a team does well so they get penalised for it

they arent getting penalized for it. those are the rules. just like if they win a race they lose the soft option tires that they make their blistering laps on. the rules were put in place to make teams that were not winning have a better shot.

is ducati on pole without the lap on the super soft tires for the one off lap that the factories dont get?

1 first place win they lose the tires or
2 seconds or
3 thirds

right now ducati has a second and a third. they mastered the loophole aka the ducati rule. GIGI has done an amazing job so far and has ducati in a good spot. sooner or later ducati will have to play by the same rules as the factories.

mike the honda and the yamaha were on the smaller fuel load since the beginning of last year because they are a factory team.

Almost right. They have to get 3 wins in the dry to lose the soft tire. Unlikely that happens.

TOO MANY RULES AND STIPULATIONS. lol. Just let them race whatever tyre they want and however much fuel they can carry and let the riders sort it out.

I think the new rules package has been good for the sport. We now have six bikes challanging for a win instead of 4. Next year, everyone is on the same footing. It's just one race that Marquez totally blew from the start. From what I've seen so far, it looks like the rules are actually pretty balanced.

MM did make the mistake himself then totally went off the wall to finish 5th. hear rossi say like oh bleep marc is back in it is pretty funny.

if MM didnt make the mistake would he have won? who knows if my aunt had balls she would be my uncle. all i know its going to be a great season.

mr stoner are you out there? hellooooooo

Agreed; the current ruleset gets the new entrants and other strugglers up to speed faster and generally narrows the gap front to back, and once they're there they play by the same rules, basically. And it's important to note that Ducati chose which option to take as far as going factory or open; they knew which best suited their circumstance and chose accordingly.

Imagine the uproar if MotoGP did like BTCC and implemented success ballast...
