High Temprature Warning

Was riding a few nights ago and my fan apparently stopped working. While sitting in some light traffic my bikes temp started to rise. Once it hit 240 I started to look for a place to pull over but it displayed the high temp warning for about 30 seconds before i could shut it off. I replaced the fan and all is fine now but my question is what to check for permanent damage. My head gasket seems intact. No oil leaking and oil windows does not seem to have coolant mixed in. I know theres danager of a warped head/blown head gasket but both seem ok. i rode it about 100 miles afterwards to test and all seems fine. Do i have to worry about the block annealing? Anything I should check before riding it again and making it worse? Bikes a 2013 1199R, thanks in advance.

No, no....you should be OK. There is a built-in margin and you already did the right thing; you were far from doing damage. That's why there's good synthetic oil in there; it will hold up to over 320. It would have to be a lot hotter to affecting the block annealing!

My 1299s got to 240 before in traffic(thankfully i got moving again)and also there was no warning on the screen, but, hasn't happened again. I am positive my fan still works though. Not sure what to think of it.

I have a date with the shop in a couple weeks after i return from work. They may have some insight and ill post it here if there is any other underlying issues.

Thanks Ross. The High Temp warning displays at 250 so I'm told. My fan cutting out isn't a surprise as I'm running the termignoni superstock long header kit which is supposed to remove the fan but my shroud is modified to fit so it prob not going to be a common problem. Keep us posted on what your dealer finds.
