Cordona GP ASG Superbike QS
Here is the previous install of the QS

After some less than thrilling experiences with the factory QS I decided to search for a replacement. Here is a install guide for the Cordona GP ASG PnP QS. You can use this for other brands as well. This is how I did it.

Tools needed
4mm Allen
5mm Allen
6mm Allen
Small Electronics flat head screwdriver
Torque wrench
Zip ties

Let's get started
The Cordona QS

I replaced the bolts with some black Ti bolts

After taking off the left side lower you should be left with this. You’ll see the factory QS connector and the placement of the factory cable tie and wire ties.

Loosen the bolts for the rearset.

Now remove the bolt on the gear shift lever.

Here's the factory and Cordona QS side by side.

Now install your new QS.
Here is how I tidied up the wiring.
When reinstalling the bolts I used blue loctite.
The 2 6mm bolts are torqued to 10Nm
The 2 8mm bolts are torqued to 25Nm

Be sure to leave room for the sensor to get airflow.

Here is the my Review of the QS after 3 weeks of riding.

Cordona GP ASG Superbike QS full review

I've probably had around 8-10 different quick shifters and this one is definitely one of my favorites.

Here are my thoughts.

Fit & finish: 10/10
The body of the sensor is very nice quality and finished well. Wire loom was great with a oem connector. The heim joints are excellent the best ones I’ve seen come with any quick shifter or rearsets.

Features: 10/10
True strain gauge sensor which is more consistent and reliable than spring loaded sensors. Configurable for street or GP shift. Plug & play. Shift rod comes with correct length so no need to cut. Also comes with a longer shift rod in case you needed extra length for different rearsets.

Installation: 9.5/10
The install was very simple and straight forward. You will need a couple extra zip ties other than that you get everything in the box.

Riding impressions: 10/10
My initial impressions were super positive. But I wanted to take more time to see if anything would changed. No sir it hasn’t this thing is still amazing. Once I got used to how responsive it is its even more enjoyable. The downshifts are still silky smooth. I put this to the test here during AZ summer. It was 112-115 degrees for about a week and in stop and go traffic it was still flawless. I wanted to throw in the towel well before the QS did.

Overall: 9.9/10
I can’t find any faults with this kit. If I had to split hairs maybe the fact I needed some extra zip ties. But most of us will have plenty of those laying around. All and all I would definitely it buy again Hopefully this helps anyone on the fence. Any questions shoot me a pm.

Not a single embarrassing missed shift in 3 weeks?

However I've noticed that this bike is prone to false neutral when the oil is cold tho. But once the bike is warm the gearbox and quickshifter works flawlessly.
So my routine is to use the clutch the first couple 1st to 2nd gear shifts. Then its ready to go from there.

You want your quickshifter module farther away from the exhaust. Some people have melted it in that location. This is a picture from cordona on where it should be mounted:

this bike is prone to false neutral

I’ve had several false neutral with original Ducati QuickShifter from 5th into 6th close to redline. I’ve noticed this both with Akra UpMap and with Brenntuning software.
With under 5K on my 1299 my DQS module will fail to upshift every so often.
It’s defective, we call it “intermittent”

anyway, there’s an HM OEM replacement quick shifter on its way and I’m grateful for your instructional post and for your review.

I definitely suffer from ADD and OCD (obviously) so I go up and down the gears all the time. Prolly wore out DQS hardware

anyway... when i shift from 5 to 6 and it miss-shifts and goes into neutral, What is happening mechanically & electronically?
How does it go into Neutral? Is the bike autonomously squeezing the clutch?

thanks!

It's not neutral. It's the space in between gears. You've moved the lever enough to disengage the previous gear but not enough to engage the next one. It's entirely mechanical.

The adjustment range for the shift rod is shorter than the threads would have you believe. If your assembly's eye to eye length isn't within the correct range using the shift lever won't cause the transmission to complete a full shift movement and the bike is liable to end up between gears. If you're running into false neutrals and you've either changed rear sets or adjusted the length of the assembly you likely need to re-adjust the length.

Check the service manual for the eye to eye length on the stock install or go to your dealership and measure a bike on the showroom then make sure your setup is at least that long. Alternatively, if it's not happening consistently stop pawing at the lever and shift like you mean it.

EDIT: 221.3mm +/- 0.3 mm according to the shop manual that was posted here a while back.

When the bike was all stock I had a couple times where at full throttle in 5th it wouldn't shift into 6th. That is completely gone now. It was weird for sure

I have it mounted where it will still get airflow. I saw the one that melted. This bike is a furnace for sure.

If your assembly's eye to eye length isn't within the correct range

completely stock, will be messing with all of that when my new QuickShifter hardware arrives.

I am interested in possibly rearsets and GP shift.

Do you guys use GP shift or leave it how it was from factory? Which rear-sets?

yes man, install it on the rear set, as far away from the exhaust as you Can, and you should be fine

works well, nice smoother shifts

Titanium hardware
I wanted to give the bike a more premium look so I found another company that sells Ti bolts for the V4. These are from Podium racing after receiving my order from them I noticed they are local to me about 5 mins away from my house lol. I got their ignition stud kit with the top nut. I've always been a fan of the "dimpled" look on the bolt head. I think the first time I saw that was on a Aprilia RSV mille
