Ducati has always had a lot of HP. The issue is putting it to the ground when you really need it. Listening to the Ducs struggle in the corners at the track was horrific. Hondas and Yamahas would just go screaming through the corners with a seamless transition from grip to slip to TC intervention to grip. The Desmos though, slip to TC, slip to TC. Combine that with difficult turning and lack of front end feel and well.....
I love visiting the GPs because TV doesn't allow you to even partially comprehend what the riders are going thru. And while being there reveals even more struggles, I can only imagine what it is like to ride a machine that doesn't want to cooperate.
And just to stay on topic, 221 mph in the dry is manic, but I don't know if its as crazy as witnessing these guys pull 186 mph in the rain....
