i almost fell off my bike.

the story:

wednesday night, after another long and tiring day at work (project rollercoaster) i decided to finally try the other maps (thanks sifubs) for the tuneboy.

first i had to update the flash box, which didn't work the first 3 times, to being able to upload the 207 akrapovic 4.1 map .

i still have the very first cored exhaust on the bike (since over 7000 miles now), with the largest opening and the inner tubes all gutted. it's the zombie, which has probably more weld weight than sheet metal, but hey, it was all for research.

anywho, after i finally got it flashed, i wanted to ride it to work yesterday am, until i realized we had a meeting scheduled at the patent attorney's office with the engineering team, so i figured to leave the bike and jump into suit and tie.

thursday nights we always have $7 runs at the greer dragway, so i threw both bikes (the race SV and the ....igale) in the trailer and hauled over there, jumped in my leathers and did my first pass with the SV. 8.6s with 84 mph. well, alright. i start pretty well on that bike in the races, so why bother. so i went and grabbed the 1199.

after startup, i immediatly felt that the exhaust note was a bit rounder, smoother, but still loud as $hit and barky. i hung out in the start area, revving to get up to temperature, letting her bark and caught plenty of looks from the lowered stretched and airbrushed community :D

off to the line i went and decided to go slow, to see what the map changed.
down go the lights and i get off, front comes up (i'm under the helmet like whaaaaahhaaaa shiiiiiift!) so i shifted into 2nd , again front jumps in my face (same film happening behind the visor) and pop into third that mother effer comes back jumping in my face....

i bet it was a great show for all the spectators LOL but the run was effed up :D

next runs i ended up doing sub 7s with .04 reaction, 1.8s 60ft and 113 top speed. my wife took a phone vid of that, i'ma try to get it on here.

this mornig merging onto the interstate i saw a car approaching from behind on the middle lane, figured i'm gonna make it and cranked it all up. 2nd gear wheelie again from 5krpm .... fu&%&*g squids

bottom line - i love it

the end.

pfffft. warranty. i don't care. i'm out of it, they won't get a dime from me to cover a thought of fear where i have to fight for services later. they sure wouldn't warrant an open exhaust and a reflashed ECU :D
also my former ducati master tech has left the dealership, and i have 2 hands and a service manual. plus the tech likes the beer i have at my house :D

I think someone (Phl :) ) Should become a Tuneboy rep and sell his cored cans with tuneboy and akro map packages ;)

You going to do a Dyno run to see why there appears to be is such a jump in bottom end compared to the Other exh system MAP You had Phil?

i've done one before.

i might get a spot on the dyno tomorrow morning... just compare a stock run vs. the akra map run... i will have them hook up the ignition this time for torque / rpm readings

what i really wanna do, is finally getting my 2nd set of headers with the 18mm prongs on em (for the widebands) on the bike to get my custom map done.

but there are only so many tuners with tuneboy experience around here (i'd have to haul to atlanta) and my weekends are packed right now with 2 more races coming up and some person called wife that wants to do non-motorcycle related stuff the rest of the time ;)

ok dyno tomorrow morning...
i have a plan...

WOW...am i reading that correctly...sub 7s on the 1/4 mile? I didn't know that was possible, best times i've read for a Panigale were 9, 10s and least. How are you able to record sub 7s 1/4 mile times, that is amazing, congrats.

1/8 mile track. Not 1/4.

PHL thanks for the confirmation.

With the akra map and tuneboy I think we can give the s1000 a good run and possibly beat them. I had a short run against an s1000 and even though he had a head start I was closing the gap very quickly before we hit traffic.

I'm more than pleased with the tuneboy akra map running with the termi slipons.

Yes yes run a dyno. ^ fully agree.

Alright, out of luck today. Chris Moore (Moore mafia) is out racing today and the other guy Danny who only does it Saturdays is fully booked...

I was like (see pic) but no chance

Not bad MPH about what my stock GSXR did when I drag raced it. I would love to line up with a Ducati with my S1000. Major props for taking it to the track I have never seen one at the drag strip before.

Not to be a fan boy here but my stock S1000 trapped 5mph higher in the 8th then this bike did. I imagine In the 1/4 it would be closer to 8-10mph difference IMO. I would love to try a roll on with one. I made 183whp with just a can it would take a really good running 1199 to duplicate that dyno run.

You sure know that it's about the person on the bike when you're looking at those speeds?

I go for a lap around barber with you, you pick your bike of choice, I take the sv650 ;)

i have full akra system + full custom tuneboy tune.

in stock form with just a tune and front end strap, i have run a 9.676sec @ 147.51mph

beating my friends s1000r, however his mph is still faster than mine 152-155mph

i currently make 183/184rwhp, and he makes pretty much the same (full arrows system and PCV with custom tune)

we have had runs on the private road and it is pretty much even, compare to in the past when he use to pull away in the top end.

I will be heading down to the drags this week (pending weather) to see how much a different the exhuast and tune makes on my time and mph. i am hoping to brake into the 150-155mph bracket and low 9's

will post results, as my friend with his s1k will be coming aswell and he has since change back to stock gearing as he wasn't able to get constant times when he changes his gearing.

FYI my other mate with s1k who make similar power 185ish, and strapped front end and lowered rear was doing 155-157mph. the BMW has some seriously top end power. i was topping out at 4rd on the 1/4mile and didn't have the power to pull into 5th gear, i managed to drop my times from 9.8 to 9.6, but my mph didn't change much at all finding the average was around 145.

lets see if my dyno results actually result in a faster mph

fyi is a video run from early in the season where i did a 145mph and 9.90, as you can see at the end of the video my mate on his s1k is right with me

stock 2012, with only a custom tuneboy tune
