Honda finally stepping up their game?..

Here is my 2006 1000RR. This is a fully HRC kitted bike (motor, swingarm, subframe, endurance tank, radiator, electronics etc. It keeps up with the 1299 easily. HP is 205. This bike is 10 years old and in many ways, I like it better than my Duc. It is certainly much easier to get parts for and has been bulletproof from day one. Honda is a good platform. You just need to spend a little money.

Do realize you just compared and none street legal HRC parts bike to a stock street bike with a 2 year warranty? Nice HRC build. (not cheap parts there). I understand you own a 1299. But lets not get lost in the reality that what Ducati has done with the V-Twin, it's incredible. A twin that is getting this much power with a 15,000 mile service interval. No one would have believed even 5 years ago.

Nope.I was comparing my Honda to my Ducati. That Honda is street legal or as street legal as my Duc (lights, plate etc) It has similar parts but from an availability and an off the shelf perspective, was substantially less costly to build than the Duc with similar performance and none of the gremlins that came with the Duc. As to the 15000 mile service interval, thats a nice number in a book but these things are piled up in front of service bay doors with a plethora of issues way before the recommended service. I really like my 1299 (how it is now) but my Honda is a better bike even 10 years old. Yep, the Duc is better looking.

Those HRC parts are going to be nearly unobtanium though. That all being said, all of the manufactures are putting out a competitive product at the moment. Golden era for 1000's I would say. I almost forgot how much I miss the chassis on my 2008 CBR1000rr that was liberally sprinkled with HRC parts via the Corona/Honda AMA team. Thing was damn near telepathic on the track.

Ducati definitely deserves some credit for keeping the big twin relevant in the performance discussion. I have no idea how they managed to pack that much power in that platform and be able to sell it as a street legal bike with a warranty. Ok.....so maybe you might need that warranty a little more than other brands, but it's still pretty amazing to me.

If Honda would have updated the CBR sooner - I might not be on this forum with you guys. It's been too damn long Honda!

I prefer 2016 CBR1000RR i think it's way better looking than this one.

We almost bought a 2016 Honda CBR1000RR but we had really bad experience with the resale of our 2014 Honda CBR6000RR - we had that bike for 12 months bought it new for $15000 the trade in price was only $7000 for a 12 months old bike with only 3500 miles on the clock that was in immaculate condition.

Never again will we buy a Honda base on its horrible resale value.

We are actually interested in buying another Ducati and the 939 could be another bike in the garage - we'll probably use it a lot for city riding :)

First it's a full exhaust system, then it's a trip to jail because he can't afford the steep fines for the speeding ticket he got and now wanting to add another bike to the stable. What's next....a deposit on the next SL?

You're comedy.

1299S looks sick!

Question for you though. I see you went with the OZ wheels are they Magnesium? Also what single change did you do that you feel made the biggest difference on your Duc that you are much happier with it?

I'll take a guess.

Mag wheels and his upgraded radiator/cooling system.

Well there is very little "stock" left on the bike. The swing arm and the frame are really the only things that were left untouched. Rider wise, fixing the heat was a big one for sure. Radiator, fan and carbon subframe. You could ride this thing in shorts. Additionally the bars made a huge difference for me as it put my spine in a position that allows me to ride pretty much all day. Performance the brakes are fearsome even with the modded ABS. All the weight reduction from the carbon tank and body plus all the Ti hardware and large Titanium parts we made (rear axle, clutch rod, steering tube, spring etc) made this lighter than the 1199 sl by a bunch. The motor is much smoother. Aside from the performance gain from a power perspective, the mods to the rotating mass (light crank and rods, precision balancing, light weight crank gear etc) made the bike very smooth. The wheels are OZ DOT mag. OZ claims they use a mag alloy which allows the DOT rating. I have compared the OZ race mag to the OZ DOT mag and it is lighter so I would say that the statement is accurate. I would not use the race mag on the street. I am very comfortable with the wheels. We have a couple of used 1299's awaiting disassembly for projects that I have ridden and i can assure you that this bike compared to a stock or even normally modded 1299 is just a different bike. There is just a level of precision to it. I would compare it to having ridden a really high end all carbon road bicycle then jumped on a standard bike shop production model. Both good bikes but very different. Would i do this again for myself? Probably not. Like i said its an awesome bike but i can build a better Japanese bike for a lot less. With a good rider (not me) the 10 year old Honda is pretty close to this 1299.

I know you guys who don't own Panigale love to troll but FYI no one goes to jail straight away there are over 100,000 people waiting to go to court in Australia for various reasons and i guess i am one of those.

They haven't even sent me charges for my alleged crimes yet but they have taken our bike :(

Fines and courts are federal revenue raisers they profit on our mistakes - welcome to police state of Australia: interestingly according to Australian Bureau of Statistics over 10,000,000 people each year paid some kind of fines of some sort and the minimum fines paid last year alone averaged about $500 that is 10,000,000 people X $500 = $5,000,000,000 in revenue !!!!

If you do own Panigale well shame on you for trolling we are supposed to be above these crap because we are a Panigale owner lol :) (Are you a Hillary Clinton Supporter or a Progressive Left Wing Liberal?) most trolls online are one of those above mentioned.

By the way saw the new 2017 CBR1000RR bike on motorcycles youtube channel - it looks really ugly and very Typical of Japanese they have no idea how to make sexy looking anything. How hard is it to hire a European designer from Italy? And why do Japanese bikes all have only one head light working on a dual headlight bikes? The number of people that stopped me at traffic lights just to tell me one of my head lights are blown or not working was really annoying when we owned a Honda CBR600RR.

I guess the only one headlight working on a dual head light Japanese bikes is to let the world know "WE ARE JAPANESE" ????

The new fireblade looks like a refugee from a Godzilla movie, typical lowest common denominator ultra tacky jap look.

Well I do happen to own what I think are exemplary examples of both brands and I can tell you without a shadow of a doubt that yes I like the Ducati styling over the Honda. That being said, Honda is a better quality product in every category. From a mechanical and metallurgical perspective, Ducati is down the list a ways. Again great bike but their materials and mfg are not where Honda is and I have taken both examples to the extreme from a construction perspective.

Still looks .... compared to a 1299

and it will cost thousands less and more than likely dominate the Panigale Series in all aspects on the street and on the track. Function over form guys are plentiful on these boards :)

Yep. Paint, rim tape and sponsor stickers from mfg that don't sponsor you. Plenty of those around as well.
