Ok my bike has been to the dealer twice in the past month for a hot start problem. Just cranks and tries to start, then it floods itself. The first time they "reset to Ducati paramiters" which obviously wasn't a fix, second time changed spark plugs and told me I have to use "mid grade fuel" which is rediculas to me. Anyone else have this issue?

The dealer says that Ducati told them that's not the issue

I asked them about it

The dealer is full of .....

I had the same problem, my dealer was happy to remove the canister, all covered under warranty too. And what do you know, the problem has magically disappeared.

Does this hard starting have anythig to do with Rich or AR? Just wondering, as every other thread does.

take it out and you're good.

the dealer doesn't want to become your new best friend, he wants your $$$

I rode the other day to go see my girl at her work. It was hot as hell here. Parked the bike went in and talked to her for 1/2 an hr or so. I have maybe 150 miles on the bike (its been to hot to ride with 115 degs). I go outside and I can smell fuel walking up to the bike. Thinking great this pile won't start... Guess what, it didn't lol. Damn near killed the battery. Tried it with the throttle closed, open and it didn't seem to matter. Finally it started but wouldn't stay running, kept stalling ECT... I kept the throttle at WOT for a good 20secs.
Only make since to remove this canister. I knew I should have gotten the BMW, or Yamaha;)

If you want to test if the canister is the problem, the next time you have a problem starting the bike, simply open and close the gas tank. If the canister is causing the problem, the open/close will balance any pressure differential in your tank and should be a temporary fix.

I tried this method the first time I experienced the hard start issue. It did not work for me. Since I removed the canister it has been perfect.
