How can we keep our Panigale free of scratches? especially around the tank and how Knees hit the side!

Will there be some nice options that can protect our paint?
I look after my 30mil has been so found it where my knees hitting the fairing

Hopefully there will be possible to buy a tank cover that cover's the whole tank. I ordered the tank bag for mine, as I thougt the tank cover would also provide a good protection for the tank. But as I now understand, it wont.. Did you mean 300km or 30 miles, as I guess it`s only we norwegians that operate with mil. :)

Park it in the living room and never ride it.

+1

The more I read this forum the more I get completely disheartened by the number of people that arent gonna ride the Ducati 1199 like its meant to be, but instead want to pamper the bike, like its gonna be worth something in 10 years.

I plan on wringing out all $25,000 of fun out of this bike, I'll wash it regularly but a couple scratches here and there are bound to happen. I'm going to modify the hell out of it too, but I'll be damned if I'm gonna buy Ducati parts, its like their motto for aftermarket is "it says Ducati, so of course its worth 3x as much!"

So to echo Frosty, park it in your living room and never ride it, because even with the 3m guard theres still a chance your precious paint will get scratched.

I understand wanting to keep a bike looking nice, but worrying about the kind of scratching you get on your tank from riding leathers or blue jeans is laughable...you could always get some stompgrips and scuff up your chicken strips and knee sliders and say you ride hard enough to use the grips at your local cafe...win win in my eyes! You get to brag to the rest of the "cafe racers" and you get to protect your tank.

/end rant

PS dont forget to protect your undertail, the hugger doesnt protect that at all from road debris and the pirellis are sticky

The most important is to fart on the seat.
As for the rest : something scratched? Replace it. Easy.

They just don't stop.

Why is it not considered OK to ride your bike and protect it at the same time?

No scheisse.

I'll be putting some 3M film on the chip/scuff prone areas. But I'll also be going to track days.

But I guess there's a logical disconnect involved every time we swing a leg over a bike. :D

It's not that riding and protecting are not OK, it's just the fact that thinking about that will make you ill since you just can't prevent everything.

I would love to ride my bike like I just stole it near the Mexican border with cops chasing me and keep it totally perfect, but that just can't happen and I hate it.

So, I just try to be careful and keep in mind that it will ultimately be damaged, most likely not by me but by someone else who doesn't give a crap about others (which is like 99% of people on Earth), and that I will have to save money to replace those parts when needed.

Along with that, you can apply basic stuff like cleaning it after each ride, carefully selecting cleaning products (although too much cleaning will damage it too).

Best part ? The sole fact that your bike is on Earth with all that oxygen around causes stress to all the materials. :-(

I am not trying to be sarcastic or mean. That's just the way things are, and I guess that's why I like buddhism, because it reminds me nothing is here forever.

Friend of mine got some really good stuff but it's not a brand I'm familiar with.
I'll definitely get it on the leading faces and edges.

The disconnect Braintrash, is that we're not foolish enough to believe it will stay in showroom condition forever.
But if I can turn a chip into a scuff, or nothing at all, for a very minor outlay of $, why not just bang it on?
'Ride it like you stole it' and be better off than you otherwise would be.

Smart arse .... like 'leave it in the living room' is juvenile. Good for your post count on a new forum though.

LMFAO :D

This Panigale seems to be attracting a right old crew of internet tough guy would be ........

I, like many others here, will remember when Ducati was a pure enthusiasts mark. People wouldn't dream of shitting on others comments.

900SL, 888, before Ducati got trendy with the 916 :(

Anyhow, back on topic.

Thing that is gonna get ugly real quick is the header that is exposed through the RHS lower fairing.

Get it ceramic coated, even just the mid-section, to stay pretty.

After one ride...
