I want to be able to mount my Samsung Galaxy phone in a spot where I can take advantage of its GPS abilities. Anyone got ideas? I see some people are having success with "Ram" brand mounts (Hello, Trauma) when they want to install phone/GPS on their bikes. Anyone else recommend something simple and cheap?

I bought an outdoor research sensor dry pocket for my galaxy s2 and it has two velcro loops on the back. With those I want to secure the phone to a little construction which also absorbs most of the vibrations. Don't have the bike yet but as soon as it arrives I will think of something.
Therefore I'm also interested in some kind of mount which could be modified.

Here is the link to this waterproof pocket:

i have my droid razr maxx in an otter box. took an old strap from the gopro kit, worked the plate, made a cut for the clip and put it on the upper triple clamp.
works pretty well. just can't work it with the gloves on... doesn't matter, for simple GPS it's alright. i don't like it too bulky... check it out here in the vidz:

the phone is snapped in with the display down, upwards for navigation. rode up to indy and back without any trouble. for heavy rain i just put it in a ziploc bag.
if you want i can take some more pics...

Wow, nice vid! Thanks for sharing. Pics would be nice but totally not a necessity. I get the picture: just strap it on and enjoy. (Wow, that last sentence really needs to be read in context . . . )

mine is an otterbox defender case with holster, i used zip ties and a piece of foam to cut the vibration.

i recommend the RAM MOUNTs these are great and can be located on top of triple tree. try this web page: Over 8000 Motorcycle Products in Stock and Ready for Immediate Shipment - Whitehorse Gear
you could always go directly to ram mount page itself.

I have the exact phone, with extended battery, and have been looking to use this as my GPS as well. Found the best app for GPS activity is called "WAZE" which blows others away with much more features! :D

Free GPS Navigation with Turn by Turn - Waze

I mounted a 1" ball on my steering stem nut and use the X-Grip.

Samsung Galaxy Phone Mount

With the addition of the extended battery it can go all day while using the GPS and Bluetooth music while connected inside my helmet via Sena SMH-10.

Not sure I understand?
X Grip is made by Ram Mounts if that is what you mean? Prices vary but found GPS City to have the best price and customer service around, free shipping too.
