Well after 8 years of faithful service, my Edwards 10-Star has finally took it's last breath the other day. I am fixing to get a cheapie K4 helmet to put around town because I have a feeling that my Tomizawa X-12 (Look in the link if you are not familiar with this model) is going to cost quite some cash down the line so I want to preserve it. So any issues that I should know about that is common with a lower line AGV? Thanks ahead of time.

I've only had one AGV helmet and it was probably ten years ago so don't know if they've improved. But the liner in mine was pretty chintzy and started tearing in less than a year. DOn't think I'd buy another one.

I'm using a Nexx1R carbon right now I really like. But after talking to the arai rep and getting fitted an arai signet q is my next lid.

I have an agv dark rider helmet v2. Pretty cozy but you can feel the difference in quality from something pricier.

I have an AGV Grid Stigma. A couple things compared to my Corsair V. The field of vision is not as good. The shield optics bug me, things get distorted when you look left or right, where they don't on my Arai or didn't on my Shoei. It's noisier than both of those too. Also just fyi, I tried on the AGV GP-Tech in the store, but ended up getting the Grid from Revzilla. The salesman told me that it was the same fit, but the grid is smaller in the same size.

I recently had an AGV S4 SV lid, and I thought it was great. Really well built with good visor and lining. I even tested its impact resistance against a car, and won. My only gripe was that it was quite noisey as the lining is thinner around the ears to allow fitment of comms earpieces and this contributes to noise on the move. Never really a prob for me as I always plug up.

Now I use a Shark Race R Pro Carbon, and that is an awesome lid.

Your welcome to take a look at my AGV when we ride.

I love mine. The quality is well worth the price.

two days ago i had my 2nd testride with my new AGV Pista carbon, just awesome.
i have the arai rx7 RC, schuberth sr1, c3 also.
surprisingly all of the helmets fit me well. the sr1 was my favorite but everybody who has one knows how complicated it is to put on this helmet.
but the AGV pista might be this seasons numero uno!!

I liked the fit of my AGVs. (had two of them) Slightly snug in the forehead since I have an oval head. The AGVs were more round headed. But both lids had the same problems over time. After a couple of years the dark shield would delaminate and form multiple bubbles. All I ever clean my helmets with is dish soap and water. The second problem was the fabric deteriorated on the Ti-Tech helmet after two years. But it's been a few years, the AGV line could be better now.
I left Arai then for AGV and have since returned to Arai. Mainly because it fits my head better.

My friend helmet choice starts with what fits the shape of your head best, some people are shoei, other are Arai and so on.

It concerns me anyone would were a helmut that was more than three years old as the foam internals would start to harden and there fore no longer protect your not so replaceable head.

Even cheap helmets are built to set standards so should provide better protection than an 8 year old lid.

Comfort, weight, exterior design are the most common things you pay for although your top end lids provide the ability to change cheek pads and liners as the usage takes its toll.
The most important bit of kit mate, don't skimp on quality!
