I caught the carbon fever!

And here was I thinking: wonderful quest for Wallaroo and RSR ...

And I'd remain untempted. Why would I need to spend all that extra dosh. I'm not even keen on black cars and bikes ... Phew, I'm safe.

Then, yeh then, I saw the picture of that tank.

Thanks Wallaroo ... I know you're type. There I am at the pub chatting about a skateboard with a mate ... And we finish up the night agreeing to get matching Panigale's! Arseholes :D

Styler ... Is there some spare space in that corner of yours to hide in and hope it all passes? :D:D:D

Hang on ... Tax return maybe soon ... When does your carbon gear arrive Wallaroo?

lol ....40 er no 38 days, but who's counting ;)

Ive taken everything that they have except the Header guard, because they dont do a 70mm one yet, Tail Tidy and clutch cover and its going to be around $8000 euro, got a few freebies thrown in as you would expect.

Really good people to deal with and I will get pics sent as they make the parts.
The tank takes the longest because it has to be tested.
I am getting everything in gloss, except the pad part on the tail cover. Like this one in the pic.

If its gloss will it not have to be prepped for painting thus removing the gloss?

LMAO , Beautiful gear Wallaroo, it's going to look absolutely stunning. Unfortunately my wife insists I have to furnish a new baby nursery and she is going to be mighty upset if I buy carbon fairings instead.

So I'll be repeating this for the next few months.

I will not get sucked into the carbon vortex!

Repeat and believe! ;)

My Own Carbon Fiber

I'm usually making my own molds and making the carbon fiber pieces or just wrapping some stock pieces in carbon fiber (if weight is not much of an issue). Its a messy and time consuming process but it saves me tons of cash!!! Some of my pieces, at times, don't come out as nice as I'd like them but I don't need it to be totally perfect either.

Next, is my mission of wrapping the metal heat shield with carbon fiber so its less dangerous when placed back on the bike.

I like. Do you have an autoclave? Or work somewhere that has one?

Yeah mate it does. but its the same if done in matt, because the carbon has to be sealed with something.
Not all parts will be painted so I prefered the gloss look to the matt so I just asked for it all to be done.
The guy doing the painting races Aprillia's and did a awesome job on them and I saw a Desmo he did for someone that has all the race tracks from MotoGP on it.....again looks awesome.

Looks good.....I looked at doing some stuff myself but just dont have the time at the moment. Hats off to you as I know the prep needed to do your own stuff.

how does it go again:

It's easier to ask for forgiveness than to seek approval.

Just love all the good carbon work. Nice stuff Wayne, and all whilst sitting on girlfriends lounge ?! :D

Wallaroo: Is the tank something you're leaving unpainted? I think I'd struggle with the tank. Having a colour on the tank is so integral to a Duc's beauty and yet that carbon fibre tank is exquisite by itself.

I'm now to be heard muttering Delta One's doctrine :D:D

Lol ...As always mate I like your sense of Humour, makes my morning while I sit here waiting for that morning chill to clear before heading into another perfect day:D

As for the tank, you will just have to wait and see;)

I started off getting all the DP Carbon Fibre, I am wondering about the Carbonvani Exhaust Shield and if it would be better then the standard metal shield. I want to use the passenger pegs for a bit before installing the Term' manifold and making the bike solo.

Hi Cali....Carbonvani are not doing a 70mm shield at the moment, so you could be in luck when you decide not to use the pass pegs as they might have one by then.

I have the clutch cover and 70mm heat shield from the DP stock and although it doesnt look bad it still has tiny pin holes in it....means a fair bit of work if you want to gloss them without bubbles.

So, any chance of a clue or a hint ?

+1 Yes ,Hints !!!!!! I'm also excited about the possibilities!!

I loved that black tricolore look in another topic by Millano very cool. Could leave the black part, gloss carbon fibre? Paint it like the 848 Corse leaving the carbon as black?

Aargh ! it's going to drive me nuts now just thinking about it!!! I'm very happy for you! whatever it is, it's going to look even more special, one of a kind!

Lol.....It's going to drive you nuts now, just think what the last 5 months have been like for me......Now you can see why the wife left for 2 months:D

What about throwing some ideas of this around in your head.
