Why Casey?? He says there's alot of new negative things about the sport going on ... is it that bad???!! The grid next year will be sorry .. but maybe now Pedrosa can get a championship but likely IF THEY CANT FIX THE Ducati, Jorge will blow EVERYONE out EVERY RACE ... BORING!!!!! So, now if VALE retires at the end of the year ... MOTOGP dies !!! who is there then to really make it exciting ....  :(

the entire program is messed up... the CRT thing is a bubblegum band aid and the split in the field shows it. stoner now possibly leaving isn't good either. the guy is fast, even if it is on a honda but a bit of a flake. bottom line... the sport needs a LOT of help and this isn't good timing.

Damn. Stoner is still at the top of his game too. He might be pulling a Schumacher though. And as nyandy pointed out above, he is a bit flaky too.

I'm glad he is leaving. Too much of a boring whiner.

I agree with everyone. I'm an Aussy and he may be a great rider, but the guy is definitely a flake. I'm still wondering if his mum know's that he has left home and gone racing the past few years.

Do you know his back story? His family took a massive risk and sold their house to fund his early racing career. They made a good bet.

I admire him for bowing out now. He said he's not having any fun.

Yes I do and the mum comment was sarcasm at him, not his family. I don't admire him for getting out. Opinions are like arseholes, everyone has one and a right to it.

Is this genuine? Is he really retiring?

Well like I've said before, there's always Cal Crutchlow... And I think it will not be long before he will give Lorenzo a run for his money!

But yep I agree, the sport is starting to turn a bit poor now especially if Rossi and Stoner go...

Guys??? Stoner leaving will not make MotoGP more exciting so that's NOT good for us. The more fast guys we have on the grid, the better .. I dont care how whiney they are. Spies is having issues, the Ducs are slow and hard to turn in, Stoner is leaving, so then we're going to have Pedrosa in 2nd and Jorge in 1st every race??!!! Well then OUR SPORT will go down the tubes as quick as you can hear the toilet flush sound ... TRUST ME .. this is NOT!! good NEWS !!!

Spies, 'nuff said. I would love to see him get on pace consistently in MotoGP. Still gonna root for Rossi and Hayden, for obvious reasons and as frustrating as that is lately. I'm not happy Stoner is leaving in spite of all of the knocks on the guy. He brought Ducati a championship, and he's still a maestro on a bike, any bike. In an ideal world, I would like to see Rossi get the Duc sorted out (or sort his riding style for the bike), and battle it out with Stoner, Hayden and Spies for a championship. A really close nail-biter season with those four in the hunt would be incredible. I'm obviously not a Lorenzo fan in any way. He's like a Spanish Stoner, without as much talent.

Seems like just yesterday WSBK would bore me to tears and MotoGP had all my attention.

My, have times ever changed! Had to watch the Donni races twice to catch everything! No primadonnas or soapy tales, just racers riding the wheels off whatever they're on. Plus one gets to root for his own bike whatever brand it may be.

Still have to watch Moto2, was born and raised 10 km from Lüthi's hometown, so he's my man.

On a Motorcycle the guy is a legend, he has been winning since he was 4 and what he did here in OZ in one weekend on the dirt will never be repeated.
He has been racing a motorcycle 2 yrs more than Vale.
Put him on any bike and he wins and the greatest thing that I think he has done is give Ducati a World Title in Motogp.
He rides a bike like no other and that in itself is what he brings to this sport.

If he had been given factory bikes from the start he would have more World Championships.

In front of the cameras he is shy and just say's it like it is, away from them he hangs out with Ricky Carmichael, Ben Spies and Colin Edwards, which in fact say's alot about his character.

MotoGP's loss is all I can say.....Cant wait till Phillip Isaland it is going to a great time to be there:D

I've watched the Le Mans press conference over and over and you can easily see Stoner is just tired of all the games and frustrations of the MotoGP organization (probably things we, as fans never hear or know) and frustrations from others not believing his illness and things he say ... He said we'll miss this current Championship ... basically he was saying .. ok everyone thinks Im a whiner and I fake what I say .. see how exciting this championship is when Im no longer here ... and he's right ... next year its really going to be boring ... especially if Jorge is winning by 8 seconds each race ... Pedrosa?? Spies?? VALE figuring out the Ducati??

Here's a question for you ... Who will get that Repsol bike once Stoner retires???

This. I can't imagine how tiresome it is for him constantly having people denigrate what he accomplishes and twisting his words. The press have never been particularly kind to him and classless fans at several venues boo him because he's not a fun cuddly guy like Rossi or Lorenzo. He just tells things like it is and people always find a way to twist it into 'he's whining'.

I do think that at this point the family is the largest reason for him to go. If he's not having as much fun as he used to and he's got a wife and kid waiting for him, why sacrifice the family life to race in a series he's not 100% into. I think that's the reason there's only one guy on the grid with a wife and kids. All of the other guys aren't even married.

There's definitely gonna be a mad scramble for that bike. My guess is that HRC would be open to Rossi riding it. Before HRC's head honcho said no way, but that's when they had Stoner. Now that he's gone the next best guy would be Rossi, unless they could poach Lorenzo. Going down the grid, Crutchlow or Dovi would be good candidates for a 1 year deal. That way Honda could leave room for Marc Marquez.

Moto GP died with Simoncelli, so why caring with Stoner ? Kagaroos are only good when turned into leather.
