I purchased my first Ducati new in 1995. A 900SS. This was after years of Japanese bike ownership. I just fell in love with the looks. Two initial memories have stayed with me: The engine sounded like a running empty cement mixer full of spanners. And the owner's manual spine glue started failing within a few months, spitting out pages every time I opened it.
My experience with every subsequent Ducati I have owned since then, to include my latest SFV4, has been the same. The engine (not exhaust) at idle sounds like it's going to come apart and Ducati is still using the same printing company.
