I'm having similar issues: after a while, when the bike heats up, the left turn signal and top selection buttons on the left controls stop working. My dealer is preparing to do the replacement wiring. Also, my dash is starting to act up. Some of the yellow RPM lines disappear pretty quickly. They already have a dash they are going to replace mine with when they do the wiring fix.

one thing your missing guys and i dont know if this matters but. Each one of you are saying the left side. Mine is the right side that is having problems. does it matter?

Unless your bike is unique the horn and turn signal control is on the left....

Right side what? My right turn signal is the one that stops working. I'm just saying it's the left side controls that stop working. Like your horn, for instance, is on the left side controls. It's the wiring for those controls that causes the problem.

Guys, does the dealer automatically replace that wire? Or do they wait till you have problems?

As far as I know, they only do it on an as needed basis. All last summer, I had no problems with heat with the dash until this year. They wanted to replace my dash and then the 881 came out.

Takes a few minutes, I would be proactive and have the dealer do it or install it on your own. It is just a little black box with a connector and a cable that ties into other cables. Takes longer to unscrew the bolts to the fairing!

It started with the horn and one of the signals, then all of it went out after a few times of dealing with it.

I don't think dealers do anything automatically.... they use us as beta testers...:)

I experienced these same issues for the first time Saturday on my way back from my 600 mile service. By the time I noticed my right signal not working I was ¾ of the way home and didn’t particularly feel like driving back through congested Houston traffic in 100+ degree weather. You’re correct; they certainly are not proactive about these things unless you bring it to their attention.

On the bright side, the dealer said it shouldn’t take more than 30 minutes to install the new part, so I’ll probably just wait until my 41t parts come in to have this warranty repair done.

The labour is covered by the warranty, shouldn't cost you a penny

And the wiring harness as well. Zero out-of-pocket. I was the first one at my dealer back in May. He ordered 10 harnesses in anticipation of the owners coming in for this issue.

dont they have to take the nose off for that. which means they have to remove all my carbon fiber parts. and i have a carbon fiber rear dash piece that connects to the carbon fiber air ducts. which means they will have to take off the side panels too and the mirrors which i just got perfect. FUCKKKKK. i dont want them touching that stuff. then i have to re locktite everything again. also the more you unscrew the bolts the more they dont look clean or should i say look used.

I bet my new hp4 wont have these problems.

..they develop character soon after the first ride.......

stw yes its the left side controls but the right signal that doesnt show up on the dash. so if i slide the control to the left on the dash the left arrow blinks. if i slide it to the right nothing blinks. if i press the horn it doesnt beep. you get the idea

yes mine is like yours. just a mix up in words. the controls are on the left . the signal on the dash is for the right turn signal it doesnt blink. but i understand what you are saying we are on the same page.
