Oh and then Full Termis! That actually was the first thing! How did I forget that (the most expensive upgrade Doh!)
Oh yeah the stuff from Hong Kong with no contact method other than email and no website either. My friend and fellow member here Mark419 got a bunch of stuff from them and said it was really good quality and cheap as dirt too! Good deal. I will stick with someone I can talk with, obtain it fast, and be able to return it without any issue if its jacked up.
As I said. Guido from Shift Tech is by far the nicest and informative guy I ever met who returns emails and calls within 15 minutes, and produces some of the nicest carbon I've ever seen! I will deal with him for his customer service alone he is so good! I have effectively highjacked my own thread! lol

the difference between my stuff and the rest is that my stuff is FULL carbon not a blend of fiberglass.
The first thing that went on mine was the Scorpio rLink alarm with built-in GPS tracking. That was on within a week from getting the bike. I'm not a fan of insurance companies, so I don't carry full coverage. Alarm costs less than most people pay for 6mo premium.
I never even considered an alarm. If I am parked in a parking garage in a high rise in the city and someone decides to throw the bike in a pickup and take it what good will the alarm do? Does it still work if they pull the battery connections?
Nothing will stop that, but like the pig, it will annoy them as they drive away. Mine was going to be parked right outside the lobby of my hotel, so it would draw attention - now I never use it.
I was just curious. I had a Clifford on my truck way back in the day and a stiff breeze would set it off. Now everybody hears alarms and just ignores them so I wasn't sure what benefit it would offer. I figure any serious thief would disable it in a minute or so, but i know there are a few GPS products you can buy and place on the bike so you can track it. Would the idea then be to get the police involved or just show up with your posse?
The bike will be dammaged either way - I haave visions of them trying to steal it, alarm goes off, they drop it. The alarm money would be better put towards the deductible
+1 - I did LSL pegs for the same reason. I think most people don't really need full rearsets (just my opinion) and the LSL or Rizoma (or other) pegs are a very nice and relatively inexpensive upgrade (less than $100 for the pegs and adapters). I think these would be a good thing to stock if I were selling 1199 parts. Just have customers dip their shoe into a cookie sheet filled with water and then sit on the bike. They will fly off the rack.My choices/priorities and the order of upgrades I've done (I have the base model) -
1) Replace seat. The stock one feels like you're riding a 2x4. DP Comfort seat much better.
2) Footpegs. Don't like the slippery feel to the stock ones. Replaced with the Rizoma available ones. The stock rearsets (along with the additional +inch height of the DP seat) work just fine for me. So I just wanted the replacement footpegs.
3) Tailtidy. The stock tail is ugly. Put on a Rizoma tail tidy (used the stock rear turn signals as I have no issue with them). Much nicer appearance.
Don't really care about carbon bling. I anticipate my next mod/upgrade will be lighter wheels. Either magnesium or (depending on what I hear in reviews from others) possibly a set of the BST carbon ones.
There is a difference between your stuff and the rest of your stuff? That's strange, as my stuff and the rest of my stuff are the same thing.

True - I have those damn water-filled cookie sheets all over my garage, I fall of the bike everytime I get on it.

The Scorpio has a battery backup, so you can't just disconect the battery. You'd have to remove the alarm, which first means you have to find it and remove all the fairings to get it out. I don't think anyone would attempt that in the middle of a parking lot with the alarm sounding (mine has the perimeter sensor). If someone just throws the bike in a truck, then the GPS would track them. Nice thing about the Scorpio is that I can do the tracking myself instead of having to rely on the police (like lojack). You're right, the alarm won't replace broken plastic. No plan is without a few flaws, but I just don't trust insurance companies to get my bike fixed or replaced in perfect condition and in a timely manner without getting screwed myself (higher premiums or lost time). Anyway, I just have to make my bike harder to get than your's
Gotcha - that makes perfect sense. How close is the perimeter? Can you park in a parking garage with other bikes in the same spot or would that be too close?
