I'm beginning to have the same issue:( , I'm considering full powder coating and/or heat wrap.

Good thing its still under warranty but the warranty wont last forever so there has to be a better fix.

What do you do for a living if you dont mind me asking? Clearly not an Engineer ;)

Buy some cheap heat resistant pads and stick it behind there to stop the heat transfer, it will work straight away. No point taking it to the dealer for a replacement, the new shield will do the same due its fit and proximity to the pipes.

Hi l have had the same problem and l had the full system powder coated still did not help and Ducati would not cover the fairing under warranty. All the work on my bike was done by the dealer. You must pack out the fairing so the exhaust does not touch. The problem is where the rubber is, it is not packing the fairing out from the exhaust.

Did the powder coating help with the heat? (that you feel)

Hi Manny,

Mate this is a warranty issue and the warranty on this will last for ever in theory because each time it is replaced there is a reasonable expectation that the item should not fail at least for a fair period. Check the fair trading laws in your country/state you will see I am right.

Mine is being replaced under warranty in the morning. I have the full system and will be watching the inside area of the fairing for future signs of the issue recurring.

Depending on the part being replaced you should get 3 months to 12 months warranty. Same with any part that is not a consumable like brake pads or tyres that you purchase.

Ducati would have to prove it was not fit correctly to void the warranty!

Got same problem when I went full termi a while back, had my dealer repainted the area of the fairing where bubbles formed near the loop.

Technician fashioned an additional 10mm rubber grommet as the existing ones are small, applied fiberglass heatwrap on the inner fairing covered with heat foil. that should solve your problem

I've had my full system on since the bike was a week old, going on a year now. My pipes don't come anywhere near being that close to the fairings. Seems a little odd that yours are.

Can anyone suggest where u can buy this heat pad online?

Cheers

Here you go, it is a UK link but you can try and find a similar one in Australia.
IRON MAT HEAT RESISTANT MAT HEAT PROOF MAT HEATMAT | eBay

Cut it to the shape you want it and stick it behind side panel so you have a barrier between the pipe and the panel. This will sort your problem. Costs next to nothing and dont bother with powder coating it when you can solve the issue with next to nothing.

Get some of this stuff and put a small strip on the inside of the fairing.
Useful for all sorts of heat problems. Should be able to find it or something like it pretty cheap at any of those national chain auto parts stores.

This is a warranty item and there is a recall from Ducati which applies a larger gromit to space out the Full Termi. If the burn is bad enough (which in this case it is) then you can claim a replacement lower side panel, if you have a 2012 model then you will be pleased to learn that the replacement panel usually includes the space to view the oil window.

I had this issue with my Full termi and went through the recall process, since then I have had no further issues.

why the .... do people need to buy heatshields and ceramic coat and other solutions when Ducati has yet another design misstep that needs to be addressed correctly!

Well....

You could whine about it and make multiple trips to the dealer and get in arguments with dealer/Ducati/whoever and get yourself and everyone else worked up and annoyed for several months. And yeah, ultimately you'd be in the right over this ( Ducati *should* fix this).

Or... take 5 mins to go to a local parts supply house, spend $10 and do what Ducati should have done. Except you've saved yourself a lot of trouble.

I save the "make-a-nuisance-of-myself" mode for the serious stuff when a large sum of money may be on the line. This issue is minor and (to me) not worth the trouble. Quick fix, done with it, and I get on with life....

very, very, well put Charlie.

i think you can do BOTH: get your $10 fix in if you think that's the way to go on your $28k bike AND lodge a complaint with dealer...or just have dealer deal with it themselves on next service and that way you KNOW dealer will lodge complaint as they are pulling resources for ill-designed elements. You can have your cake and eat it too, if you think about it.... i think CaliDuc dealt with it well......

i hear you man and agree... trust me. some of these things I've chose to deal w/ myself after speaking with some of these dealers who know little to nothing about this bike other then it's name... if that.
