Is the Up Map there same everywhere?

Can anyone tell me if the Up Map is the same everywhere around the world?

I am assuming it is as the emissions control is no longer considered (as the pipe is "for track use only") and therefore various different emissions regulations are no longer relevant (i.e. California, etc...)

The reason I ask is because I have obviously bought my bike in Oz, but have bought termi cans from the US and I don't know if there is any compatibility issues between the different maps (if they're different at all)

Anyone else done this and had any problems?:confused:

I think there are a few countires which may have restictions but you are safe between Autralia and the US. For example I think France has major restrictions that neuter the Pani.

I too bought the bike in oz and the cans from the states, I am by no means mechanically minded and I installed the cans myself (db killers out of course). The up map was easily uloaded to my bike as per the instructions included. All is working well.

The Up maps are not the same everywhere. The European ECUs and North American ECUs are different, so the maps from a Euro ECU do not work on a NA ECU and vice versa.
 
I am in OZ also and have been looking into this myself.
I had a dealer here in Sydney claim that the ecu's are programmed differently due to emissions rules being different in USA compared to Australia and that we wont be getting as much power if I buy from USA rather than locally.

I think he is full of crap and obviously trying to scare me into a sale.
And I agree that the upmap should do away with any emissions restrictions considering the cans are for track use only and are not road legal.

Can anyone confirm or add further information?
 
Picking mine up today with full system and up MAP, will pose the question today at the Ducati engineer type person and let you know his response!
 
Austin Racing (see thread on the forum by Rich22) has a plug in fueling module for the Pani. Personally no experience with it but is claimed to improve fuelling and power.

Mate, no drama's with the up map. Bought my Termi's from the US and saved nearly $1000 AU. Fitted them myself, a few PITA bolts to get too, if I had to do it again, I would take the rear wheel out.

I pick up the bike on Saturday and will run it in with the stock pipe and then change it over.

The reason i was worried was because a dealer (not the dealer I bought the bike from) told me they were incompatible. He also told me that customs had a motorcycle specialist looking for pipes and expensive parts being invoiced cheaply to avoid duty and GST and that only 20% or so got through. He also said they were charging duty and GST against Australian prices and there were big risk for costs involved. Seems like trying to scare people away from online retailing is a contagious disease!!

The pipes seem to be sitting in my living room though.

I had a PCIII in my last bike which was Dyno-tuned for great results and I would have done a similar path if I had to, but given the coin I've dropped on this sucker, I'm keen not to have to spend much more on it for a little while

Now, in terms of the mappings/etc on the ECU - its entirely possible that even with the UpMap the ECU programming could be different. You would /think/ that this being an off-road product that they would just tune it for the most gain but that isn't the case. Even with the termi's fitted, the lambda sensors are still plugged in and active (this wasn't the case on some earlier Termi installs on older bikes). So obviously even with a non-road legal exhaust, apparently there is still some emissions crap going on. . .. .

It is not clear that the differences are emissions related. They may also be related to differences in safety interlock requirements between markets. Back in June I had my bike in to my local tuner to see about developing a custom map. One of the things the tuner tried was to load a map developed by another tuner in the UK for a Pani. With the map loaded, the kickstand down warning light continued to show even though the kickstand was up and the bike would not start. The ECU on these bikes are in control of many facets of these bikes and increasingly everything is getting integrated in the ECU, so there is more to worry about than just emissions.

We're getting ready to make a second attempt later this month, now that TuneBoy has pretty much completed work on his tuning software.

Part numbers on the Full Termi system are exactly the same. You would have to check for just slipons

i would guess the upmap are the same regardless of country.even for stock map in ECU.if not all the sensors readings which is needed for fuel/air compensation will be totally useless...till today, i think the software is pretty adaptive.

Why would the base/up maps be different from country to country,then why the sensors?
 
Assuming the UK base map and the Oz one are the same, the fuelling for the full Termi is much better run without the up map. My bike with full Termi made 173bhp I think with the up map and 187bhp mapped on the Rapidbike.... The upmap is horrible and runs far too rich, you are better running the standard map on the full Termi (well you certainly are here in the UK)
 
This is the graph for my bike with the full system and up map against the Rapidbike. That hole in the midrange on power and torque as standard can be made so much better as well as filling out the top end.
