Is there a way to tell compound (SC1/SC2/SC3) when label is missing?

What does your sidewall lettering say, does it start with EB?
Yes. Eb U618 3621. The 3621 I believe is a date code. Manufactured 36th week of 2021.

Here are pics. Second pic shows where the SC label has been scrubbed out. Third pic is the other tire that's sc2 and label is intact.

OK, so finally perhaps, the link below seems to show: SCX-red; SC0-white; SC1-blue; SC2-green; and, SC3-yellow; zoom the image helps. I hope this is current?

Pirelli Diablo Superbike Slick .

Good find, thank you @Tom3 Yes, the peeled off label is blue so retailer is being authentic, I did receive an SC1 this time.

Now I have to go look at the half dozen tires I got last year that had labels missing to see if there is any color residue....

Tire guy confirmed per numbers you provided, that is 180/60/17 SC1.
He didn’t elaborate why sticker would be missing.
Sc1 is my favorite tire for front and rear.

This is his response
Eb= breuberg factory
U= 25 the start digits of this part number so all together a 180/60r17 sc1 diablo sbk slick
Date of manufacture is 36th week of 2021

The link below should bring up the Pirelli 2022 Motorcycle Tyre Guide, which contains a table listing "IP Codes" for the different Diablo Superbike tyres they supply: front, rear, size and compound. I don't know if the IP number is the same as the part number referred to above, but it might help confirm the identity of a tyre if the label colour code is not available?

Hope it helps.

I've had a look at the Pirelli table for the Diablo Superbike tyres and the numbers in each column for the tyre you expected to receive are: 180/60 R 17 NHS TL SC1 2561800 .
The last number is the IP Code for the tyre, in your case: 2561800. If you separate this into: 25-618-00, the start digits are 25 consistent with what is stated above, and 618 are the next three digits in the sequence, which could correspond to the last three digits in your tyre reference: Eb U618?
This interpretation would align with the tyre you ordered, the code you have, the Pirelli tyre man's information and the table in the Guide.
However, since we don't know for sure, it could just be a coincidence, but then again maybe not!
An email to Pirelli may resolve any uncertainty?
Good luck,
Tom.

OMG, we did it!! Between what @Bo13R shared and what you shared @Tom3, we have it!!

My SC1 says U618 and SC2 says U619. @Bo13R says "U" = number 25. The IP code @Tom3 shared says SC1 180/60 is "2561800" and SC2 is "2561900"

This is fantastic, never have to wonder what race tires you had delivered with or without tags. I saved that Pirelli PDF. Thank you both,

Ok I looked up my stock of 180/55s to get the IP numbers. The PDF above does not list numbers for the older 180/55s so posting here for future reference in case anyone is still running old sizes like I am.

The link below is to the 2018 version of the Pirelli tyre guide:

https://www.multimoto.pt/files/files/products/Catálogo Pirelli 2018_20180208_023826.pdf .

The numbers for 180/55 SC2 are: 180/55 R 17 NHS TL SC2 1632200, with the IP # 1632200, which ties in with 322 as part of the H322 on the tyre.

I have not been able to locate the 180/55 SC1 tyre in the equivalent 2019 or 2020 tyre guides, so can't infer what the number part of the code might be.

Tom, this is great info, thank you for sharing again.

I am not surprised that we can't track down the SC1 180/55s. They were made as a limited run and people (including me) rushed out and grabbed as many as we could before they disappeared from inventories. I am now kicking myself for not grabbing more of them.

Don’t beat yourself too much, when I ran R6 my opinion is /was that 180/60 was superior tire compared to 180/55. It just felt it had more to give on the edge of the tire.

I hear you man. The 690 Kramers are very sensitive to tire size and geometry. Back when the 180/55s first went out of production I tried the 180/60 and bike never felt right. Even tweaked ride height and finally gave up and got a hold of a bunch of 180/55s. I did have decent feel with a Bridgestone 165 on the 5.5 rim but it was a bit stretched.

The 890 Kramer was built around a 180/60 on a 6 inch rim and lo and behold it's now out of production also. So I got a bunch of those as well while I could.
