Ditto!

Buy it mate. The bike won't disappoint you in any way, including the heat!
I ride in Singapore. Spend some time setting it up right and this bike rewards you almost magically - your only issue will be wiping the grin off your face.
Don't listen to 'em - this did make a diference on the base. It comes with a metal one that the exhaust turns into a radiant heater. A carbon fiber one (I purchased this one) does not transmit the mhit, so blocks some of it anyway.
But Xbox is sooo corect. Complaints on this forum (an extremely small percentage of owners) vary from "what heat problem?" to dang the thing is hot on a sunny day. I am somewhere in the middle. I feel it is hot, But I ignore it by listening/feeling the engine. Kinda like it's "coyote hot"
I am cracking up on this one. There is no doubt in my military mind that using the potential of "heat" as a determining factor to buy a bike (particularly this bike) is completely insane.
I must respectfully disagree with the following comment based upon personal experience of owning both bikes "The current Panigale is a lot hotter than your 1198 by a factor of 2 or 3."
I literally almost parked the old bike on the side of the road and limped away while stuck in the infamous heavy I-95 traffic! The 1098/1198 was a roasting applicance compared to the 1199, hands down!
Hate to resurrect this topic as it probably has about 4 pages of threads on. (pssssssst, search key is between "new posts" and "quick links" upper right)
Disclaimer: This is ONLY an opinion derived from my PERSONAL ownership experience and not to be construed otherwise.
I get that you have ridden a Panigale a lot more than the 100 miles I rode one. But I have a friend who has owned a 1198S for four years along with two other bikes. He has told me flat out that he almost never rides the bike because of the heat (remember that we live in Houston).
The "liter" bikes are all so good today that if one has a significant flaw, it damn sure should be considered as a reason not to buy the bike. I don't get the logic that you should not consider heat to be a reason to buy the bike or not. Do you really think the Ducati is that much better than a BMW or a Ninja ZX10R for instance?
I'm not trying to imply I know all the answers. I have not ridden the BMW or Ninja ZX - maybe they have big flaws as well. I'm just trying to put in perspective that you can't simply make a bold statement that you should not consider the heat in your buying decision.

I humbly disagree. My buddy owned the original BMW K1, and it pratically melted your left shin from the heat off the engine. But it was a K1, an insane looking and tech marvel of its day. If heat had been an issue, what were his options? None.
Same with the Pani - if the heat makes someone pause, they really don't want this bike. It's Italian, expensive, and will end up be qwirky in it's old age, has a crazy 2 cylinder power band, but it's a Ducati, and it's a race bike. Not to mention most people here don't notice/don't care about the heat anyway. I would rather ride it on a 90 degree day than my K1300s, period.
I hate to be so blunt, and being a non-owner I will likely be called a troll, but you are pretty arrogant about the Panigale. If Ducati sells enough bikes to folks like you then more power to them. But my dealer has two Panigales sitting on his showroom floor that have been there for probably 5 months or more. If a guy has a choice between a BMW S1000 and a Panigale and doesn't want to have his nuts roasted because of the hot seat, that's a lost sale no matter how you spin it.

Arrogant is a bit condescending, I think he's passionate about his bike. Everyone is allowed to express their opinion, no matter how strong it is. You may not agree, it's up to you to decide though. But, if you look up and left ... this is a Ducati 1199 Panigale forum. What do you expect to see here? Before I got the Pani, I was going to get the HP4 and cruised s1000rr forum. This is nothing.
I would appreciate it if you would exit this forum. It is for Ducati owners and wannabees, not non-owner critics. You have to own a Ducati on this forum to judge it (IMO). As I told you before, I came from a ZX11/K1300S not unlike your stable - and prefer this bike to both. Goodbye.
But like you said, everyone is allowed to express their opinion - does that include me or not?
I can't see anything in my post that says I don't think you should express your opinion.
Unless you've owned an 1198 and an 1199, you really can't speak to the OP's question. What is hot exactly?
I just don't understand how you can expect any different responses than what you read here. This is a forum full of Panigale owners!! It's not Consumer Reports.

I refuse to talk to this guy, but what kind of person joins a forum for a bike he doesn't even own, and complain about it? And keep complaining? He is even making up a "friend" that owns a Ducati that he never rides because it is hot, and using that against a poor guy that is genuinly interested in a Pani, as an argument? I stand by my ideals, and would think all would agree - to stay on this forum (in good standing, we cannot force people to leave), you can only critize a Pani here if you own one, otherwise you are just being mean spriited. BTW, he took your statement to look up at the name of the forum as an invitation to leave because of the word "left"
