Is There is any Heat issue Under The seat !!

Help Support Ducati Forum:

I did not accuse you of saying I can't express my opinion. I was trying to make a point that you were supporting people who did so. Sorry if my meaning was not clear. My bad. Trust me, the 100 mile ride was plenty to feel the heat. It would not have been any more or less hot if I had just written a check for the bike. My ass did not know I was a troll.

You folks are too much. I am not allowed to say that the heat damn near burned my ass? Gee, I wonder why Ducati is going to all the trouble of fixing the problem that doesn't exist.

As to "making up a friend" that is just downright hilarious. I've got about 400 miles logged onto his make believe 1198. And I also made up the fact that an old friend of mine owns a dealer and spent six months trying to convince me to test ride his bike, so I finally did. I have nothing to prove to you folks. But anyone who has followed along can figure out who the dealer is. Feel free to play along and call the owner of that dealer. He is an old friend of mine, and he also sold my friend the 1198 based upon my mutual friendship with him.

BTW, I also made up the fact that I finished in the top three in the country in three classes of the AMA amateur road racing class in 1982. I am also making up the four bikes that I own right now. In fact, I'm not really even on this forum - my dog is actually hacking my computer and posting stuff on forums to make me look bad.

Haven't had this much fun on a forum in a long time. Hopefully some of ya'll can get up tomorrow morning laugh it off.

Wait a tick. Does that mean the deal we made to trade your Concours for "as many Milk Bones as I can fit in an overnight envelope and hurry" is off? :(

Yes...there is a heat issue. Never owned an 1198 but my previous bike - BMW S1000RR had no heat issues in the seat or thigh area...

Thats the only thing I dislike about the 1199 Panigale is the heat emenating from the rear cylinder header....but, I LOVE EVERYTHING ELSE ABOUT THE BIKE!!!!

Thank you Mig, you have the same view as me. I'm probably going to buy the new 2013 hypermotard for commuting duty this upcoming summer. We have similar weather in Florida as you. I love my 1199, and won't sell it. But God-.......-damn it's hot in the middle of a Florida summer.

For those blasting a guy for weighing in a bike's heat when purchasing all I can say is what is wrong with that? The guy lives in Kuwait, so a bike's heat management is a legitimate concern when purchasing.

I can't say if it's hotter or cooler than the 1198 or 1098, but gunny is dependable in his posts so I feel his assessment is a fair one.

I can, however, say that this bike is indeed hot in traffic. The absolute best thing the OP can do is actually test ride this bike for as long as possible and even a couple times to see how the perceived heat it to him.

I personally believe you will love this bike, but there are circumstances (stop & go traffic) where it will be unpleasant.

I'm done.

Yeah right on. The 1199 is a lot hotter than then 1098. Ceramic coating the exhaust makes a difference in terms of heat and the full titanium termi sounds even louder :)

The 2013 HyperMotard SP is pure sex. I get mine in April 2013 and I am going to mod that bike to the limit. In my personal opinion, the 1199 is the apex, however it is not a commute bike. The HyperMotard makes a perfect compliment to the 1199 (IMHO).'

EDIT : The Ducati 1199 Panigale has a severe heat problem way more than any other vehicle I currently own or have owned. The heat discharge is not normal and you have to love Ducati to even bear it. Currently ceramic coating the exhaust is the best option to date. Ducati have acknowledged the problem and had stated a fix will be out in Feb 2013. I love the 1199 it is excellent, however the heat is a genuine problem.

Thats my personal experience.

Hello every one ... i use To have The Ducati 1198 2011 model and i use To have big problems Some times with Heat Under The seat ?? ... however i`m welling To Buy panigale 1199s ... is The Heat Gone or still over There and is it a Big deal !! Like 1198 or Less Heat ! Thanks

There is a horrible heat issue!!! It affects us owners in hot temperate countries.
Heat will cook your right thigh wearing normal jeans and textile pants. You have to wear at least leathers all the time.

Thats the only issue I hate on the Panigale! Rest is all sweet news! Bike is simply stunning to ride...no regrets purchasing it. :)

The current Panigale is a lot hotter than your 1198 by a factor of 2 or 3.

Ducati is using a solution from MotoGP by adding a metal box over the exhaust. No one is sure how it is going to look.

Chipping in .. I ride a 1098 and a 1199. Both have full Termi's systems and both are jet hot ceramic coated and polished. I agree 100% with you the 1199 is at least hotter than the 1098 by a factor of 2 or 3.

I repeat, I have a FULL TERMI system, jet hot coated on both bikes and I ride both bikes. The 1199 is outrageously hot. I consider the 1199 unusable for anything involving traffic .. the 1098 works well in all conditions.

Hey, I am about $42,000 USD on the 1199 and I probably have the most modded 1098 S tricolor out there ... 1199 is 2 to 3 times hotter than the 1098. Sorry to say this.

EDIT : The heat is so bad on the 1199 that I wear Dainese Teflon jeans as leathers are unbearable.

I bet riding it around Singapore would be fun. I used to visit over there for work. I got a tattoo at the Orchard Tower ;)

Orchard Towers .. ha ha. I heard it got shut down. My friend had decanters with his name on it from the club on the top floor .. Top Ten (heaven on earth). But did you visit Crazy Horse in Orchard Towers ??? Or did you make it past the first floor swim wear competition ? Ha ha .. the amount of people who I have met and the words .. Singapore and then Orchard Towers drop from their mouth. It is like a rite of passage.

I love Singapore. :D

I agree that it's great that he is passionate. But the thread was started by someone who has concerns about the bike and he deserves an honest answer. And yes, I'm a forum junkie - I stated right up front that I expected ya'll would take this personally. But like you said, everyone is allowed to express their opinion - does that include me or not?

What I stated was based on very real experience riding the bike, and after hanging out on this forum it's not like people are denying the heat issue. You say the forum is for "wannabees". Go read all of my posts and you'll see that I'm damn serious about buying one.

No question that a post like yours may become a self fulfilling prophecy - I may leave here if your response is indicative of what this forum is all about. But I challenge you to read my post again and tell me I'm wrong. BTW, I was not even criticizing the bike, I was criticizing the attitude that was displayed in the thread I quoted.

But thanks for your polite response showing that you don't like people who don't see the world the same way you do and that you think they should not have a place on your forum. Forums should be a place where disagreement is not only allowed, but encouraged as a way of giving people different perspectives.

I don't see anything that states you have to own a 1199 to be on the forum, so in my opinion you are indeed welcome. The 1199 is amazing, it has a serious flaw - the heat. However, we are assured that fixes are on the way. Ducati is trusted so there you go.

Now, we are a bunch of touchy types on here :) .. so I don't think the initial response was arrogant and trauma is a good guy, a direct guy but a good one.

Okay, it's morning and we have all had a good nights sleep right? I had a long talk with my dog. His name is "Alex", but we lovingly refer to him as "Bonkerdoodle" - he's a Standard Poodle and after having mostly Labs and Lab mixes I'm almost afraid to admit that. He has promised me he won't get on the forum when I'm not around and post stuff that pisses off the forum. This is my way of trying to make peace with ya'll!

As to the deal on the Concours - my memory is that I get the Weimaraner puppies and the Milk Bones.

Just to show both Alex and I am real, here is a picture of me and Alex....

ok, we believe you. He looks tall enough to reach the keyboard. :)

I can't add much to the heat discussion since I picked mine up just last month. It hasn't been over the mid-50s since then and I only have 1000 miles on it. Almost all my riding has been in textile pants with jeans underneath (mostly 30s and 40s F), but there was one nice day when I got out for an hour and a half in jeans only. I didn't have a problem with the heat, but it was a lot hotter than my 1098 SF.
