issues with clutches speed shifts on new V4

So I am having issues mainly with upshifts from 2-3 and sometimes 3-4.... seems like almost 50% of the time the bike doesn't shift until I either a) include the clutch, or be try it 3-4 times... 600 miles or so on it.

Is this a break in issue? or an adjustment that needs to be made by the dealer?

No issue as such but it definitely performs better with a full throttle up shift (as intended) rather than doodling round town lazy shifts. Inputs need to be very positive as well.

I would say make sure you are not keeping a little bit of pressure on the shifter. If you do it will not shift and feel like it is stuck. Are you using standard shift or reverse?

I don't think it's technique as it never occurs between 1-2, 4-5, or 5-6... I use a normal shifting style.. I used both a large racing boot, and a smaller boot... both made for ducati... I also tried lower rev shifts, and higher rev shifts...

I would have the dealer check it out. How is your clutch feel does it release right off the grip or do you have to let it out before it engages? Has the recall been completed yet?

He claimed to me that since it's one of the latest bikes to come off production, most were done at the factory, and the remainder by him... It is due the 600 mile check next week it's going in... I've told him to look at it. Will keep this thread updated incase anyone else gets this issue.

Ducati QC neglect

Please disregard anyones post that states: "I don't seem to have that problem, mine is perfect..;)"
I had a Speciale and had that exact problem. "FALSE NEUTRALS " 2-3, 4-5, 5-6 especially when going, "(WOT) wide open throttle". Dealer could not fix it even though they were able to reproduce the same problem on the dyno and street... Among other problems. That is why I sold it. It didn't qualify for the Lemon Law, so I sold it because the issues that occurred were so unpredictable that it was unsafe to ride with any level of confidence...:mad:Easily the worst bike I have ever owned.

I am assuming you are using the quick shifter? Turn it off and see if the bike is hard to shift.
I turn off the quick-shift for street use. It's great on the track. I did four track days last year with no issues regarding the Q.S. system.
Just like those stupid wings there is no added benefit to a quick shifter for street use.
See if your dealer is aware of any TSB(s) regarding the Q.S. system.

Dont be shy with kicking it into the next gear.

I notice the bmw's quickshifter doesnt need to be as harsh in comparison.

Have to be pretty firm with the factory duc quickshifters ive noticed,
not just a love tap.

There's a well known, well documented TSB that covers the QuickShifter. Basically every other bike in the beginning had issues. I thought I was lucky and avoided it, but mine started having issues later on (after 4000 miles or so). ..... at your dealer and get the QS replaced. If they don't know about the TSB they probably haven't sold more than one V4...
