*** Correction on the title: Not 1299R Akra cans .. but the Panigale R Akra cans***

Recently challenged myself to fit a Panigale R Akra EOM exhaust cans on my 1199. Just wanted a better sound and the weight improvement while staying street legal.

I can’t believe I pulled this out! I took me a bit of research, checking and measuring all the pipes diameters and different geometry. After a while it was good on paper, so I gave it a shot. Wasn’t easy so I'm gonna post a few pics for all to see and answer questions if any :)

Ask anything while I get those pictures up :D

You'll need the Panigale R Akra Y pipe as well. Then add a piece of the 1199 Y pipe to it. You cut it as pictured and expand the diameter it from 57mm to 60mm in a Exhaust shop to make it flush with the Akra Y pipe.

Tight everything in and it FITS! Very very tight tho!! I got about 1/2" between the tire and the exhaust. It's close but in place! :D

Tires are new so the gap can only grow. I believe it will even grow bigger with time as the chain gets adjusted

Nice job dude.. That pretty close to the rear tire.. BTW thats the Panigale R OEM exhaust not 1299 OEM Exhaust.. Stellar job.. Post some video and keep everyone informed on how it works..

I know it's close to the tire! I think I had about 0.75" or 1" before. Don't think it will be an issue. Just happy it's in there.

Did not know there was a 1299R. Be interesting to see if that tyre diameter expands at high speed whether you get a little touch on your exhaust. Well done for having a go. I personally would not be happy having it so close to the tyre after all that effort. Good luck with it.

You're right. I would have expected it to have more clearance! But like I said, tires are brand new. I though the 2013 and 2016 bikes have the same geometry. Maybe it's just the fitting. Anyways, if there is anything wrong I'll post back

Prolly more clearance on the R because they probably adjusted the swing arm the same
Way they did the 1299

How long did it take you to do the swapp , looks very compact on the Inside not to much room to work with this Ducatis :(

Nice work. I can tell you those cans wail :D

The 1199R always had a different rear swing arm to the S and the base as it was adjustable. Hence your difference in clearance.

I really hope it works and doesn't give you hassle, you'll love it!!!

nice job!

but IMHO easier just taking the 1299 headers and 1199R/SL oem cans or 1299 cans.

BTW, i was first :D

Man! I wish I could get my hands on a 1299R!

I hear they're super hard to come by!

Nice job but Id be worried about that rear wheel clearance. And doesn't the OEM R Akra still have the cats?

That would makes sense. I used the same mounting holes with not issue. Just feels like the can is a little bigger that the one that came with the 1199.
