I disagree about sportbikes not being good for the street. I had a 2008 GSXR1000 that I think had 175hp and was more than I can handle but was very pleasant to ride, not jerky and didn't get hot putzing around town.

I would argue that most jap sportbikes are absolutely fine for the street. Sportbike-wise, all I've ever had are jap bikes and Ducati so that's where I'm coming from.

ok, we can compromise. THIS sportbike isn't good for the street since you described it to a T when you said "jerky and hot putzing around town". :)

Haha...no Mohawk here...

The only defensible reason for having this much power on the street is to get away from a douchey looking gaggle of sportbikers all sitting around the parking lot arguing over who has the best neon lighting.

I see you have an opinion about Sport bike riders then??? But having one yourself you realise we do not all fall into such stereotyping... Once I am outta town I rarely see sport bikes...its normally Harleys and Gold wings... and an occasional Adv bike of some description...

What??! Me?!? I better get some neon and a new helmet.

Softer version??! I hope not! I've pretty much already decided this will be my next bike for the street when I make the Pani track only. I've read pretty much every article available, and rumor is that there is a good chance it'll be making 180-200hp when it hits the showroom.

I WANT IT!!!

I don't think it will be too much softer . I just spoke to my guys here who just had a visit to the factory .
I understand the bike will be very similar minus the forks and exhaust on the prototype bike .
The are talking a 170 HP bike .

I like the GP style exhaust. That won't be there? :(

+1 on getting this one. The fact the rims are kinda obnoxious appeals to me. I would like to learn how to drift.... Proper hooliganism @ it's best.

If they kept it pretty much as the prototype, It'd be sick. But I'm pretty sure it'll be watered down by the time it reaches production...Hopefully Akrapovic will offer that exhaust in the end.

I'm keeping a look out for something to augment my Pani. Looking at the Speed 3 R, SF 848, 1290 Super Duke, and seeing how the 1198 Monster turns out. Good thing I'm in Afghanistan until June!

I sooooo wish it was released in the prototype colors. Either one woulda been awesome. Awesome bike dude.

Congrats

And a five word sentence is all we get?! I believe a proper ride report and comparison to the Pani is in order.

Congrats!

Very different bikes .I need to run this thing in first .
I rode it this morning with TC off and wheelie control off it's a laugh .

Had a mate racing last weekend in Pro twins at Wakefield Park on the Panigale he came in third behind a almost stock 1290 KTM .

OK I'm hooked on this bike it's sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much fun .
Looks like a weirdo compared to the Pani but weirdo's are better to hang around with .
