So, first track day on the Pani, I figured I'd leave a few things untouched, prepped most of the bike, but for whatever convenience reason I decided to leave the kickstand on and for once did not zip-tie it to the bike. I figured.. should be fine right? Damn thing stays in position and only moves with the jaws of life.
I don't know what to call the part, but it looks like a hydraulic cylinder or something that holds the kickstand in the up and down positions, well let's say this came completely off the bike and then the kick stand at some point had fallen to the down position on the straight away at the track at around 150-160mph. Kill switch engaged and shut me down, then when I got the bike back to the pits I noticed the bolt and nut mounting the kickstand had completely backed themselves out and the kickstand was being held to the bike by pure luck that it couldnt fall between the bike and the race fairings. Damaged my fairings a bit and scratched the .... out of the swingarm.
I'm a bit disappointed at how much they overly used red locktite on this bike, but a large bolt and nut for the kickstand has randomly backed itself off, and my whole kickstand has fallen apart?
The bike has never been down, the kickstand has never been taken off or touched on this bike, and it has seen no abnormal stress besides being ridden like an ex-gf, which should be normal for a race bike I assume.
I kind of assume this is a freak accident, but judging by the potential lethal issues that can arise from a kickstand malfunction I figure it's worth people checking theirs to make sure it's "ok". Mine felt 100% perfect up until that track session at the end of the day, was maybe 2nd to last session.
