I have a quick question about strapping my bike down. I've had it in the bed of my truck for five days now. I've never actually thought about any ill effects of leaving the forks Compressed. They're not cranked down to bottom out, but it is secured. I've also never left it in there, but I'm traveling to see family/friends and taking it for the ride. I Googled it, and it seems like it shouldn't be an issue, but the stock 1199 forks already have a pretty crappy reputation. I'm on my second set. Figured someone here has already asked this and has some advice.

it depends how hard you have it strapped down, take a look at your forks and see if they're weeping onto the stanchion tubes

I've never strapped my bike down for such a long period of time, but from what I hear it's not the best thing to do for any type of fork, which makes sense as all the internals are under stress for a longer period of time. save some headaches for the future and invest in the pitbull TRS.

Strapping it down is not bad....but over tightening/tensioning it could be - holding the bike in place with straps does not need a total suspension compression....in fact just the opposite would be better, to allow the bike a little movement over a bumpy road....over tensioning however can be so bad as to tweak/bend the frame....something you obviously would want to avoid

leaving it strapped in the truck with minimal tension on it is no big deal at all...

Thanks, I figured it was not great but okay, I've still got some travel, and it's not bottomed out, I'm going to take it out today for a ride and put it back in tomorow.
