Quick question for all of you Panigale owners out there....

I'm curious how different the Panigale S LED headlamps are to the non-LED headlamps offered in the Base version.

Color? Clarity? Brightness (luminosity)? Light spread?

Any and all opinions welcomed. Thanks in advance.

The LED headlights on this bike remind me of the first time I got a car with HIDs, I was blown away. The next time I drove a car with halogens, it felt like I was holding a candle on a stick front of the vehicle in comparison.

IMO one of best features on the bike.

huge difference. i just went from a base to a S and the lighting is so much more clear with the LED's. i could actually see at night.

Not a lot of help here, but I think a couple of guys have upgraded their bulbs on their base with favorable results. I don't recall if they were mentioned on those links above, but I think they were.

Has anyone tried the "cheap" way and picked up those 30-40w H11 LED bulbs?

I bought some from this guy on bimmerxenon.com . He does Ducati lights too. I threw these in my base and it was like night and day compared to stock. They match the leds on the bike perfectly. Not as bright as the S model but, huge improvement.

Yeah, I've seen people use HIDs but don't recall anyone trying the LED bulbs.

What is the link for these? I put HID on my K1300S, super simple install, insane difference. I currently have the Silverstar replacements on my Base, but I also have the HIDs ready to install - difficult for the transformer placement.

Another question, has anyone compared a Base w/HID to LED?

Hmmmm....sounds like the LED headlamps are a HUGE upgrade.

The reason I ask is that I'm THIS close to pulling the trigger on a Panigale. (I already have a deposit down)

I'm trying to weight the pros and cons of the base versus the S. The DES is not a necessity for me personally. What is a necessity is that I'd like to be able to actually see the road ahead of me at night. And I'm not too keen on doing an LED conversion on a base version.

Hmmm...food for thought.

Any other thoughts on the S version's LED headlamps?

The stock headlights are more than adequate, plus it is easy to swap out with brighter Silverstars ( http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005KDOAGC/ref=oh_details_o04_s00_i00 ) as I did if you feel the need. HID's are only $35 if you want even more.

you gonna have it tough and there is heaps of post about base vs S vs tri vs R

i believe i love the wheels and leds
those i can not live without

the S suspension and carbon is so so

im still glad i have the DES as i have no clue how to change the suspension and works great for 2up or wet.

Are those bulbs just regular halogens with a blue tint to them?

i will chime in on the s vs. base question with one main point.

you can argue about the wheels, from a design standpoint or a weight savings perspective. the LED lights are probably loads better than the base, but the base headlamps are surely fine for night driving and both are useless on the track. but the forks are the main difference, and from what i hear, the BASE MARZOCCHIS ARE BETTER than the Ohlins.

ducatista blasphemy? maybe so, but the people from whom i've heard that -- and they are numerous -- run the company and race the bikes. i know three ducati executives (very high up NA and Italy), one longtime-dealer/racer and one race-team manager who have purchase their own panigales -- ALL of them have bought the base model.
