Light weight forged wheels

That looks awesome! Those are the titanium looking ones… I’m definitely gonna get some and I’ve discounted CF so it’s either Marchesini RS alli or mag and maybe those ones! OZ gass. They look sick! I just want the best option for the money. I don’t mind spending more on Magnesium if it’s sooo much better but if it’s negligible then forged alloy it is…. Please help!!! 😊👍🏻👍🏻
I know you already have your mind set on a forged set , however if CF is still an option than BST just released an improved set of their rapid tek version. They have beefed up the hubs and now have EURO TUV ratings . This makes them stronger than previous generations and only 1/3 pound heavier in the rear and a 1/8th heavier in the front , however now passes the strict inspection of the TUV rating. You would never know the difference unless you inspected the hub of the wheel. Not sure if this means anything to you or anyone , or if its just even a label BST paid for but figured id mention it . Out of all the CF wheels BST are the go too.

They are Freakishly light ! 5.8 lbs rear and 5.9 lbs front

So what’s the damage with a set (cost?). I’d be keen to know. I’m not sure about the CF as the OEM CF wheels from the sp2 etc is maaad expensive so I was looking at rotobox bullets but loads of bad reviews… but if these BST are reasonable then CF could be back on… where can I see them please mate?

So BST makes the wheels for the SP2 . Rapid tek from BST closely resembles the Ducati version.

I got my set early in ‘24. I want to say I paid around $4000-$4500 .

I went BST Rapid Tek with CeraCarbon sprocket this time around…BST has an even lighter wheel now though…the 5 spoke one.

I also switched from Brembo T-Drives to the Braketek Cobra SS rotors

looks awesome! That has to be like 20lb+ of rotational mass saved right there!

Ive done the BST wheels , 520 kit with the superlite sprocket kit (steel version) , lighter rear rotor too and i think i saved a total of 15lbs rot mass.

For those who haven't felt the difference of dropping rotational mass , it is a drastic feeling of a difference , even more so than an exhaust and tune. Bike feels very nimble , effortless to throw around.

All the arguments about not using CF wheels just don’t pass the common sense test for me.

Like that they are weaker or if you bend a metal wheel you can fix it etc.

I’ve gone off track and ran over 6 inch boulders with CF wheels that took no damage. I think mag or forged alu wheels will deform with less force than what would break a good CF wheel.

Also people say ‘but you can get a metal wheel repaired’

Really…where? And for how much? Show me where you can get a high end sport bike mag or forged alu wheel repaired from a significant bend?

Especially BST wheels. They make the wheels for factory ducati v4 sp2 so you know they aren't messing around when it comes to the wheel performing.

The saying i like to go by is the following..... What WILL bend a metal wheel , wont always crack a carbon wheel , but what WILL crack a carbon wheel will ALWAYS destroy a metal one.

They have come a long way , after holding them bare it kind of felt sketchy because they are that friggin light! Riding on them in the back of my mind i was going to destroy them with every pothole. That worry went away quickly as now even hitting potholes i can feel the wheel absorbing the impacts even more so than the forged set.

The only think I can think of that alloy wheels (more forged aluminum, not mag) have in their favor is durability and maybe abrasion resistance. The epoxy finish of carbon wheels can be pretty delicate and critical to the composite’s strength. Frequent tire changes could damage the wheels in this way.

Oh for f*cks sake...... So I fully intended to go for Forges Alli or Mag wheels but now you lot have made me think twice... 😆😆😆😆
I looked at BST, I don't really like the look of them but I could put up with that, I then looked at Thyssenkrupp which look great and they'd probably be the CF wheels I'd go for. Then I heard about the issues CF have so I decided against it, though the issues I heard about where a few years old and the CF have come on a lot... But trying to find information about different wheels on YouTube is a minefield. I have a V4R 2023 so can someone tell me what are on the bike already. Are these forged Alli or are they steel? If there forged Alli I'll probably not change but if there steel I'll 100% change up.
CF are very expensive where Mag is a third of the CF price and Alli is about half the price of CF.
If I do the wheels then I'll need rotors and sprocket etc (please let me know some decent makes)
So is it worth the extra ££££ for CF or £££ for Mag or ££ for Forged Alli......
Same question as what were all discussing but I suppose its down to money. I want the handling to be better which ALL of the wheels mentioned will improve from OEM wheels. Its for 90% fast road and 10% track....

Sorry I forgot to mention, I have a V4R 2023 with 1 mile on it. Someone bought it as an investment and then needed money so I got a right deal on literally a brand new bike. I haven't ridden it yet. My previous was a V4S 2019.....

Thanks all :):)

Why do you want CF or Mags? If its for looks or starbucks just toss a coin. The R comes with chicken feet forged ali that are 95% of CF as mentioned, there is a benefit but its not that great. Like anything on high performance sports bikes, the cost goes waaaaay up very quickly when you start buying exotic components and chasing the edge

You're wrong there mate, I have just got off the phone from Ducati Manchester and the new 2025 V4 comes with forged Alli but the 2024 and below are steel wheels so to change the wheels to CF or forged Mag/Alli the handling will be off the charts. I've ridden a BMW with steel and then CF wheels and the handling was unbelievable, so much better...
