Won't it be better and cheaper to go with an Ohlins cartridge kit for the Marzocchi forks?

I have them on my Panigale. I wouldnt say the cartridge kit is better but cheaper yes. The Ohlins are way better in terms of quality, more robust and the Ti-Nitride coating is a lot better than the anodized coating that is on the Marzocchi. The Marzocchi is a lighter fork but not much lighter once you put the Ohlins cartridge kit in. I highly recommend the FGRT 203 over the cartridge kit if it's within your budget.

Kyle Racing has them for $2,299

Yea, but for that price you can do front and rear - and ultimately have a better setup than the S!

if i wasn't happy (which i am) with the stock Marzocchi forks i'd go the route of Ohlins cartridges for sure.

Don't cartridges ride rough on the street?

PS. TJ over Rider's Discount gives out juicy discounts on Ohlins, he beat out Dan Kyle's prices for my S1000RR Ohlins set up by a large margin.

Nix 30mm Cartridge Kit + TTX Shock, $2249 at Hardracing.com

No, cartridge kit does not ride rough on the street given the correct spring rate for your weight and riding.

Lots of apples and oranges here; a few things to keep in mind.

A) The TTX cartridges and the NIX30 cartridges are very different. TTX have twin tube, solid-piston design like the TTX shock, thus the name.
B) The FGRT series forks, which you can get for around $2300, have the NIX30 carts in them.
C) The FGRT203 is the Marzocchi replacement, not the 200, as they have different sized tubes to match the triples on the base. Otherwise plan on buying some triples.
D) If you want to buy whole Ohlins forks with TTX internals, you'll need the FGR200's which will set you back about $9K. Who's first?

i'm very happy with the Marzocchi forks....if i were tracking the bike regularly i might consider the upgrade. they are not bad, at least i don't think so.

Agreed . I had a race meeting with the standard Marzocchis I found them excellent waste of money for a street bike to upgrade to the kit .
I think most people would like to change to Ohlins forks for looks only IMO.

Yea, TT = twin tupe, definitely the best way to go. But for just 2K, the NIC30/TTX36 are an awesome upgrade, and put you above even the S's performance.

So if I was buying a Pani just to track, I would get the base for 19K, add the S wheels + these shocks, and for 24k, you would have a bike with better wheels/suspension then a stock S. Just missing the LEDs, which do nothing for track. Add an AR/RB and you could ride circles around an R for 2-3K less.

Would that be with, or without skill?

With that setup, no skill required! :D Think of all the perf mods done on this forum by riders that haven't even mastered stock. There must be something to it, no? The better perfoming the bike, the better rider it makes you become? I sure hope so, or to quote Dire Straits, "A lotta money for nuthin'" !
