Loose bolts

all of them.

in all seriousness, here are my personal experiences:

- the bolt on the starter button housing, which also fixes the throttle to the handlebar tube. i had that come out and was not really able to go on the gas.

- several rearset (gilles here) bolts. lost shifter peg, luckily i found it again.

- i know of someone who reported a frame (airbox) bolt coming loose.

- valve cover bolts, resulting on oil all over the bike, luckily not so much on rear tire, but it ruined a trackday.

partial solution in my signature: ;)

Threadlock is your friend.
18 years ago I found one of my 996S subframe bolts lying on the back of the engine/clutch housing - Since then i've always used threadlock whenever i've worked on any bike and take notice that the marker paint is still in line.

all of them.

Took the words right out of my mouth. Ive been slowly going over my bike tightening the screws in preparation for summer and its a tedious job nut a necessary one. Luckily i checked because i was down to 1 loose screw on the cover plate for the termi pipes and there were a couple other minor loose bolts.

yup.

those good vibrations make the bolts go party in places...

stock exhaust sleeve / covers = - hanger bolts. ducati did a revision on the 899 with locking washers, not on the 1199. they come loose easily.

side stand, yeah, i had that come loose too.

now, for mountain rides, i have a small set of metric bolts and the right tools with me.

Any place where we can find pics or videos with problematic bolts to check?

Excuse the brutal lines but this pic should help. Basically anywhere within the red outline needs to be checked over

marking won't prevent them from coming loose. do you want to go through a pre-flight checklist before every start? ;)

Also on the front caliber bolts the manual states to use grease but no other bike I have ever owned asked for this its usually loctite?.

Phl I will be eventually getting the valve cover bolts off you when money permits.

If you loctite those bolts it will be very difficult to remove them. The author of the manual knew what they were talking about.

by far the biggest one i've had is my kickstand bolts. Loosened up went to park my bike and noticed it was leaning bad- luckily i saw it and it didn't fall- however it did scratch my pipe.

Same thing happened to me. Definitely on the list.

i was wiping down my bike after a ride and noticed the paint marker line on the kickstand bolt was no longer lined up and had loosened about 1/4 turn, thankfully I caught it and tightened it back up
