I had dealer install sato Link, rode home, next day I had no clutch.I inspected reservoir and nada, zilch, completely dry. I called DucatiMiami, explained the situation and they sent a tech to my house( 30 min ride.) and bled clutch for me while I was working. My wife was home to let him in. Great customer service. Wife wrote check for $105-not bad.
Love the riding position now, I am not as lurched forward over the bike now. I did a 300 mile ride last sunday and enjoyed it. I recommend the lowering(5-10 mm) to anyone looking to be more comfortable on open roads.
I bought the Sliders from them while there and installed myself to save $$.

Lowering the rear or raising it for that matter will serious change how the bike steers and behaves and should not be tampered with unles You absolutely know what Your are doing.

So what's the explanation on the clutch? Somehow it lost the oil and got a bunch of air in the system?? And did you lower the rear using the new Sato link or some other way? Just wondering....

Maybe he is not interested in riding fast.

Fluid must have leaked out slowly and went unnoticed. Lowered a couple of mm only(yes sato)which did NOT affect any handling characteristics, in fact it seems to do everything better now.

Isn't Sato a cheap eBay China brand? I remember when I was 18-19 I bought cheap sato China sliders that just cracked off when I lowsided my Japscrap.

Two ignorant comments all in one reply. Go look up sato. Than while I'm at it I love my pani but you have to be a complete ..... to refer as the big four jap brand as "scrap".

Glad to hear that it all worked out well. I have had the SATO on the 1199 (also got one on the 1098S), I know it is a racing mod. However, I prefer the 1199 in F mode and lowered with the SATO ride height adjustor. I also like how it takes seconds to fine tune it.

Hats off to Ducati Miami for the awesome CS. Good to see not all dealers are as bad as heard. Luckily my local is top notch also. Glad you didn't throw the clutch also.

If you are not continually changing your ride height, that blue lock-nut by the forward shock mount will do the same thing. More of a PITA to work with I admit. Personally, I lowered the front 5mm and raised the rear about 8mm to quicken the steering and I am very pleased with the result. What link position are you using? If the desire is for comfort, then use the P setting as the F setting is considerably harsher. You might also want to look into a softer rear spring (mine is 3 steps softer). Have fun.

What happens when you lower the rear 5-10mm? How does the geometry change affect turn in, corner exits, and ground clearance? Will it make the bike more wheelie prone? Will it affect weight transfer during hard braking and acceleration? Can any of this affect stability? Can this be dangerous?

If your cruising, no it wont change much at all.

If you start pushing it really hard, you will notice the geometry changes.

Your changing the rake of the front forks, and CG, so depending on whether your on a tight twisty track or a faster one you might make changes that make the bike handle better for your style.

Stability is where it can make dramatic changes depending how hard your on the gas.

Dangerous?, depends on how fast you ride.

From Shazzam

I realize that for shorter riders this presents a dilemma. Lowering the bike to make it easier to reach the ground lowers the C.G. - and this alone makes the bike harder to turn and handle.
