Heat shield

I wonder if anyone is making the heatshield part that covers the rear cylinder in Carbon. I want a shield on the rear cylinder but a nice clean one.

I spent about 15 minutes this morning talking to him and he brought up the issue of helping me set up the bike - suggested I wait until the 600 mile check to see what I like and don't like.

Duh, I interpreted "set-up" as modifications.

Enjoy it will take a little while to completely fall in love with it. Yes, after the break-in and first service you will love it even MORE. I know it's hard to believe but true.

And we need a heat report ASAP. Get it nice and warmed up then sit in some 80 degree traffic lights for us!

Don't forget to set the suspension to the progressive mode and have them set the sag for you as well.

What? Why progressive? You make it sound like it's madatory.

Still worried about that little bit of warmth.....outstanding.

I was at my dealer all morning and they are all good guys and I know everyone there. Then I had to stop by my BMW dealer - have not known them long, but have gotten to know them - the service manager does track days. I lost track of how many people asked me when (not if) I'm going to put a full exhaust on it.

I really don't feel the need for mods other than just minor functional stuff. I have a full Akrapovic and PCV on my Ninja 1000, but that bike needed it (went from 123 to 140 rwhp. What, like I need more than 175 rwhp on the Panigale? Okay, stupid question.

If you lived in Hawaii especially Oahu then you would understand the need to find out about the new heat shield. I commute with my bike everyday and we have these things called "stoplights" and also city "traffic". While some might suggest that I merely "ride faster" or "man up" I doubt they are riding in the conditions I am. Think Manhattan in July or August - year round. Getting a FREE modification from DNA certainly adds to the mix as solving this problem by merely dropping the bike off at the dealer would be a no-brainer. If it doesn't then I won't, but I doubt if they would reverse the work merely because I find it less aesthetic.

Be thankful you have cooler weather and open roads to minimize the issue. If you still can't wrap your head around how it might affect someone else than you then maybe that's something worth discussing with your psychiatrist.:D

Oh and I'm guessing he won't be using his new bike as a track only bike judging by his limited the modifications planned, so progressive is the way to go. Or maybe not.

I didn't say that. What I said is that the mechanic suggested I wait until the 600 mile service to have him help me set up the suspension.

Why wait. I would set the sag straight up. My 2 cents.

Congrats and enjoy your new bike.

57, so allowed to make fun of OUR ages!! :)

Wait... You told me you were a spicy 19yr old German exchange student...oh man I need to shower..

Lol

Back on topic: still in break in for mine, I just need to long distance weekend this bebe and knock it out!

Congrats, and welcome to the club!

jjsC6/Trauma, thanks for sharing your ages. Looks like there's hope for me yet, a mere youngster at 40!

I can't say that I feel as good as I did when I was 40, but I feel like I'm still young and most people tell me I still do more than most people half my age. BTW, I don't mind sharing my age because people tell me all the time how good I look for my age, and I sure don't feel like I'm getting old. BTW, the guy I ride with every week year around is about to turn 64 and has an 1198S, Ninja 1000 and FJR and he rides like I do - which is to say fast.

Boy; you guys are old.

I hear ... after 60 is like playing pool with a rope.

Uhhh, well - not sure how to put this but let me absolutely, positively assure you that ... at 60 has not let up a bit. :p
