Hi Guys & Girls?
From the start, no I don't need someone to ride it for me!
Late starter to motorcycle riding, 59 years old in fact when I got my Learners. I'm now 60 and I've got 5 months to go before I'm off my restricted licence. Recently I came across a beautiful (yeah, I know, they're all beautiful ) 2015 Diavel Dark with only 1700klms at a great price. So I bought it, and it now sits, with the ..... in my garage on a trickle feeder. I get it out once to twice a week to ride it around the driveway, about 100 metres in length, just to move the oil around. My serious question is, is there anything else I should be doing with it over the next 5 months to make sure nothing deteriorates through lack of use? I figure it shouldn't be a problem as I'm aware some bikes sit in showrooms for over twelve months. Thoughts? No, I don't need you to ride it!
Cheers

Hi,
Firstly I love your style, straight in big
As for the maintenance I would use the time to change the oill and filter, go over it clean and lubricate any cables and switches ,bolt heads, be careful not to contaminate brake pads and rotors.
Personally I would not be starting it twice a week, once a month maybe and bring it up to temperature.check anti freeze and change if needed. And try to get the weight of the tyres with paddock stands or something, if not move the position of the weeks to avoid flat spots also keep tyre s up to pressure, you will love just looking at the work of art and getting to know your way around it.
Good luck and enjoy

Bonjour,

I live in Québec where it is winter for 5 months/year. I have a red Diavel 2011 and I have been winterizing my sweety since. Here is what I do:
fuel tank is full,
synthetic engine oil is full,
I use a trickle battery charger to maintain battery full, same battery since new,
Tyres or tires, I use paddock stands to keep no weight on,
I have a Ducati tarp to protect from dust, it is in a heated garage,
I start engine every month until running normal temperature to oil pistons, rings, etc. I change oil only as per recommendation for service. You may notice that exhaust pipes near cylinders will be hot red, its normal.

Voilà c'est tout! It's a wonderful bike!

Can't you ride it with a restricted license? Not familiar with your laws. Ride it up and down your block if you have to. Nothing is better than use for a bike.
