Any experience people?

I was wondering about the following issues:

1) Do flys and muck clean off easy, or do they stain?

2) Do they suck up heat from direct sun - would be big problem for me!

Thanks!

got a matte black SHoei RF 1100, fare way better than my gloss black Arai, easy to clean and pretty touch to scratch. dont feel the heat soak up in the sun to be un issue.
hope that help.
im thinking of X 12 this season, but the RF 1100 is still too new.

Wife has HJC matte black. Looked great when new but one can see every fingerprint. Stains by looking at it and the slightest scratch shows.
To us it's the worst colour ever.

Regards

Just got the X Twelve a couple of months ago after wearing my Shark RSR2 for two years. I love the X Twelve, it's eye port is larger than most helmets and gives a noticeably larger field of view. It's also pretty light and fits great, I highly recommend it...

I have a Matte black Shoei XR1100.

No issues at all.
Great tough looking lid.

Now.. if only I could get my Pani in that colour.....

i have a bell matte carbon and i love it.it flows ALOT of air and isn't any heavier than my arai it replaced.if your figers are greasy then it will leave prints that you can see,but they wipe off easily.bugs clean off with just some water.i live in phoenix where temps can hit 118f on the summer and i haven't noticed any heat soak at all.

this is a review of the helmet.

Bell Star Matte Carbon Helmet - RevZilla

hope this helps.

I second that

I recently bought a AGV Ducati Dark Rider, and I love it. The matte black doesn't seem to radiant the Florida heat any differently compared to other helmets I have.

Yup do away with dark colored helmets firstly, for conspicuity reasons and secondly for heat related issues...though heat issues only affect countries with extreme high temperatures...

Get a white helmet with red stripes..etc... to match your Panigale...avoid Matte black.

Wow - that sure was an interesting read. For the most part, I've shied away from dark lids for this very reason. Feeling pretty smug now I know I was right :D

Yup :)

I know that any matte finish would also suck up the heat on a hot sunny day.

Would be good if he tested gloss v matte black :p
