ok, was cleaning bike today and notice part of my lower right fairing, where the "long" pipe is exposed. (there is a welding point for the springs, and that welding point has melted the fairing)

i got pics on the phone, will upload later. Has this happened to anyone else??

happened to me . its under warrantee no problems except they don't want to pay for my xpel ultimate paint protection. they say its after market. i say if your product wasn't defective then after market wouldnt be a problem. will keep you posted. oh i also want the new fairing with the oil viewer. i won't except the old fairing

good that im not along, but i mean even if they change it wouldn't it just happen again? how can they fix this for good? twist the pipe "down" alittle? or the new part has a cut out???

btw Mark do u have the part number for the lower fairing with the oil viewer?

There is a product update that includes a new rubber bumper that holds the lower further away from the fairing, this will prevent the burning.

Had my lower replaced at first service cos of same thing. Mechanic told me he would try and rotate pipe so it didn"t touch new panel. I told him not to bother as A,the pipe has a bend at one end so aint really gonna rotate and B,I didnt want the pipe joints disturbed as this may have introduced a leak. I asked him to bend the spring anchor loop slightly as it was only that bit touching and not like on your bike the whole weld. It was done under warranty.

yea, disappointed with the craftsmanship... but i was warned before hand... so still happy with the "Ducrapy" <---- that's what my mates started calling it:(

Hey Aus1199s - I've got this on mine as well.. Only just got it today and already seen the fairing melting.

Hopefully the dealer may know about the bung that shifts the fairing away from the pipe.

Needs to fix something else as well so get it all done at same time..lol.

Ducrapy - harsh.. although was kinda how I felt on the side of the road this arvo..lol.

cheers,
Moz

Yip same on my side... photos were taken and I am waiting for feedback as they wanted to speak with the plant for the solution/s......

Exact the same except mine is almost burnt through already.....

i dont have a part number for the new fairing i am sorry. As said above they put a rubber piece to keep the fairing off the pipe and it is a full warentee issue.

yea just bad design or welding on that part.... had a look at other bikes @ the dealer and noticed that the full termi's don't have this issue as they don't have that spring there. hmmmmmmm :D

bike is booked in this Friday for 1st service, will keep u guys posted.

The full Termis do have this problem. The header is bigger in diameter thus sits closer to the fairing. Ducati has update spacers for this as well. However, that's a crappy weld. The stock exhaust in general is pretty bad in terms of quality. A few months ago another member posted pictures of the stock slip-ons without the covers. It had some of the worst welds I've ever seen. Makes me glad I have the Termis. Then again I haven't pulled the covers on my Termis so they may be just as bad? Ignorance is bliss :D

My slips needed quite a bit of pre-install work. The quality was pretty poor

Hey Aus
I had a look at mine today after a short ride to test some new LSL footpegs and there is plenty of clearance. Seems to be a spacer on the mounting point just near the end of the brake pedal.

Mine was delivered in May this year and has had all the recalls done at 1st service. Maybe the spacer was part of it.

@ Brad
mate the guy @ service said that spacer was only for the full system, but they may have to try it on my bike as they don't see another solution. I asked for the new fairing with the oil cut out and he says he will look into this for me.

a more concerning matter, while we were looking at the fairing a drop of "black fluid" dropped from the bike(right under the radiator) and we looked at each other and said... check for oil leaks too....:( (he did say could be from the oil filter, as it happens to 690?)

I think he's right. If you look carefully at where the rubber stop is. Adding a bigger/thicker stop there wont help in this particular case.
After your original post, I checked mine and the fairing had melted a little in the inside. I made a silicone shield out of the sheath of some 10AWG wire, and silicone double side tape.
Will keep an eye on it and see how it goes.

Begs another question - has anyone else broke a tab on the left fairing? It still fits ok, but what is the price of a new one?

I noticed a broken tab on the right fairing today. Waiting to hear from Ducati. My dealer is pushing them for a replacement but man seeing that exhaust issue above really has me worried.
