melting fairing!!!

I'm not gonna worry about preventing anything until the warranty is up. I'll keep going back to the dealer every time I have an issue, they don't mind it's how they make their money (they bill Ducati for warranty work performed.)

Yes, but DUCATI actually pays them peanuts compared to the normal hourly rate they charge through the workshop.
Then you have to factor in the paperwork they have to do to process the warranty, which they don't get paid for.

Cheers

I'm not so sure about that, I will find out from my friend who is a service manager. Anyway it's better to keep going back so it's on record with Ducati as well, if enough people do it they'll issue a recall.

mine is melted too, as soon as i started to notice the exhaust was melting the fairing i twisted the exhaust pipe a little so the spring loop wasn't so close to the fairing when I did my termi install! still gonna have the plastic changed during first service!

Are these problems with the '12 model '13 model or both?

They replaced mine with the new panel with oil cut out. All done under warranty plus one of the caps that came off the mirror.

My issue is with the pipe itself, I'm on my 2nd pipe 3rd fairing melted (waiting for 4th to arrive) now the welding on the pipe looks like its either done by a monkey or a very drunk human.

I will try to get a pic up later if I can be fked with it..... its like WTF???

Mine melted, not badly, only noticeable up close. Will get it replaced it under warranty at 24k service.

I have a 13 but I know the 12's have problems so I say both!

It's both - I have a 13 and mine is melted too. I just haven't bothered to replace it yet and will probably wait until the next service to do so.

what is annoying is the dealer knew about the issue for quite some time........ so why don't they fix it before delivery?

Well, it looks like my 2013 bike was overlooked when the rubber grommet was fitted. Massively pi55ed off. Bike is in the dealer next week, will be pushing for a new lower section of fairing I think!! Not completely gone off this bike yet but after this and reading about all the other faults other members have had, I am seriously getting close to calling it a day!

Are you saying you had this one fault and are considering selling your bike because you read about problems other people have had?

I'm down... just got a bunch of cardboard and markers ready to make signs. just let me know the time and place.

My 13 has a melted fairing, too. I put some heat tape (triple layer) down there for now. Is there a better solution?
